This is a wonderful shot. I wish that all photographs taken on an iPhone with artistic intent came out like this. Too many amateur "photographers" don't know the importance of a real camera, but this shot proves that in the right hands, great photos mat be taken on phones.

POY contender! Iphones are like modern enduro/trail bikes, all rounders!

@FrozenTreads56: Samsungs are definitely the most versatile. Call, text, game, take photo & video, they even have an emergency fire starter feature should you get cold!

Wow! I love all these landscape and lighting based shots recently. I really like the composition of this one.

I recall you once told me "it is not about the quality of the camera, it is about the quality of the glass". Only much later (after getting a chance to mess with gig-photographer Hans-Peter van Veldhoven's gear) I learned what aperture does for your composition. And judging from your WC coverage, you know that too. And apparently when a wide aperture isn't needed, for you a cellphone camera does just fine. Congrats on another POD!

Glass is king. Yet any camera/lens can produce pleasing images. You just need to know what it can and can not do. Sure, this image could have been quite a bit better if I had taken my 'big' camera. Yet the ride would not have been as good. Cheers Vinay ✌️

@ikeizer: Agreed, it is about the composition. And if you've got light to play with like you have here, you can create something special. I like to be slow with the latest tech (as it can be a true money sink if you want to stay up to date) but I eventually got my first smartphone (Nokia Lumia) a few years ago and took this picture a few minutes from home.

But I'm not delicate enough so the lens is all scratched up and useless now. But your WC coverage, that must have been shot with f1.7 or f1.4 or so? To me that feels essential to define your composition, what's in the spotlight and what's background. It is only very recently that I got an autofocus lens with f1.7 aperture, until then I used an old manual focus lens on a system camera (with adaptor). Here you have one of my youngest daughter on a swing:

A cellphone would have put everything in focus and that kind of destroys it for me. It takes a few go's to get to focus right this way, but it isn't too hard and well worth it.

But you're right. The consequence of being so picky is that I never take pictures on a ride because indeed even a system camera is already too bulky and fragile to take along.
