um. does it have a honda engine too?
OKAY, I HAVE READ EVERY COMMENT ON THIS PICTURE AND f*ck ALL YOU HATERS, IN MY OPINION THIS IS THE RADDEST LOOKING DOWNHILL BIKE ON THE CIRCIUT
i say... it doesnt look like a bike... it looks like a mx rame with a crank.. i think bikes with a idrive thinggy are cheating cause its unfair to the people who rock real bikes like v-10s and intense. Plus i would way rather spend a day on a intense m-6 (the new thing with the new dorado) then on this. this bike even tho the technology is insane, to me just looks kinda cheep. but thats just me.
@sramnorco: you are retarded yourself. the guy is talking about motorbikes, because honda produces mainly (not to say only) motorbikes - as far as singletracks are concerned. and in motorbikes you have chain on the left side and rear brake on the right. that was supposed to be funny.
The bottom bracket's not that low, it's just the tranny that sticks out all around it. I think the Honda is taller and steeper than most other bikes on the circ. But even Greg doesn't know the exact geometry of the bike, that's all in Honda's top secret files (even though you could just take a ruler and a protractor to a picture of the bike and figure it out).
@Alex: right, he doesn't know the geo, as if he couldn't measure it himself. don't be naive, he should or even must know the geos. it's not like that they give you a bike and you ride it, no matter your preferences are etc. he's pro, he's a racer, the geometry should be exactly as he likes.
Ask for yourself, there's an email address right on his website. The bike was finished before they signed him in '04 (they only chose him because he was the reigning DH champ at the time, they would have chosen someone else if he hadn't been world champ), and they only wanted it for gearbox research, so why would they spend another $75,000 to make a new one-off RN01 with slightly different geometry just to suit Greg's personal preferences? Besides, it's Greg Minnaar, he could ride and win on any decent DH bike. He's never altered the geometry of any of the bikes he's ridden (Orange, Haro, Honda), and they're not exactly similar bikes.

You guys keep arguing whether this bike is ugly or not and you miss the entire point of this bike. Do think the pioneers of mountain biking back in the 70's were worried about how their bikes looked, no of course not. The bikes that they rode looked like ass. All they were worried about was trying to start a great new sport with innovation and creativity. Honda and many other biking manufactures are trying to advance our sport by bringing in new designs and innovations for the bikers of today and of the future. So when all I hear is a bunch of girls bickering about the aesthetic appearance of the Honda bike, I can't help to think that you are all missing the point entirely.
ya i agree, a performing bike (like this) has nothing to do with the looks
and i think it looks cool anyway.
and i think it looks cool anyway.
get serious about life my friend, bikes were ment to be that complicated, thats why motocross bikes were invented
so what guys i have 3 of those honda bikes..i got them from Penny and Dick wilson and westgate honda
pretty sure its only a concept bike budy and unless ur on the honda racing team u dont have 1 let alone 3 so go back to riding ur kmart bike
yeah "johnnynorco"..... too bad there is only a few even in existance, only given to full factory riders, and with all the R&D and materials, those bikes are priced at around $45,000.
i have the mountain bike action magazine that shows how that honda transmission thingy works........
the honda g-cross team are deffinatley in it to win it! notice the classy pocket in their race jerseys for their race medals, theyre definatley competitive to say the least!
I really would like to know the specifications of travel and bb height word has it they might be available for frame kit in 08? but that is just word on the street from the brothas
they aint gunna sell it. They figured with the price that they would have to put it at, it wouldn't be at an advantage to them. They were for a while though...
man... that bike is soooo retardedly ugly!!!!!!! sorry honda, i love your dirtbikes!!!1 but that bike should be destoried!!!! its a disgrace to nice looking bikes!!!
holy shit is that bike for sale i have 15000 bucks$$$$$$$$$ nice fender I like the shape of it how do u switch gears i love u imean the bike
i'm afraid it's not enough.... i heard this bike is worth 75k$ so only frame can costs about 60k$... sick price but nice bike
Those bike are not available for sale and like the other guy said they are around 75K and there's only like a handfull of them for RACER ONLY (team honda) period.

ha way to tell it! its only hyped up coz its honda and is ridden by a very fast rider for example SR suntor make gear box frames
i would never want to ride that bike... it's cool cause it's a honda i guess, but it's unnecessarily complicated and probably really heavy.
word... It's just under 40 lbs so it's pretty heavy, but you gotta believe Greg and Matti would win on another bike too right, I mean Sam kills buy 10+ seconds all the time and he rides a Sunday so it's not all the Honda that's fast, the racers are too. Honda only built three of those RN01 frames anyway so riding one is out of the question anyway, it just Honda's way of trying to own this sport as well. And c'mon guys they're not 75 grand... check Honda's website, they figure the cost around 20 thousand. Also they're not " super secret" about the frame, the specs are on the site... just the technology in the gearbox.
lol are you kidding me....It just makes me smile when i read every ones coments and relize how none of you know what you are talking about....first off who ever said this bike is heavy is a dum ass..from 2 years ago when the bike use to be red they took off a half a pound just from making it crowm insted of having paint....and no none of you can buy this bike..honda only has this bike to do research for the motor cycles....there is a small micro chip in the gear back that records enformation and they just plug it into a comp after ever run...and this bike may be kinda ugly but it is the most well taken care of bike on the whole race sercet...when the bike rides past you in a bumpy section it does not even make a sound...and this bike decline mag said would be worth about 52 thousand dollars....USA.....
and when I read your comment it makes me smile because you suck at spelling... stay in school kids...
wow this bike isnt worth 45,000 canadian you people are retarted. to build that bike costs next to nothing compared to 45000. theres tons of bikes with gear boxes and same technology as this one that you can pcick up for 25000 at most

Yeah, Haro let him keep his World Championship winning DHR, and he might still have his old World Cup winning Orange 222 too. It's only fair. But Honda might be different sinse they cost so much and were for research.

Since i work for Honda maybe I'll be able to get my hands on a demo :-D
So who wants to buy my intense M1 so I can built a badboy like this one :-D

you kno honda spent a s#*tload of cash do develop this bike....and the showa fork...but with all that R&D will the ever make a bike or they juts did this for a superexpensive publicity stunt??
How about some specs... What is the weight of it, Cost, And by the hondas cranks is that just a gear box or something?

This message goes out to all Pinkbike users that cannot spell properly (apart from the none English speaking ones, although some of them can spell better than those that do speak English as a first language). Stop bitching about this, that or the other, go back to school, learn how to spell, then come back and argue. That way you may get a little more respect from fellow Pinkbike users. The choice is yours.
