Well, I'm here to tell you that it's not-- in fact, free-writing is back and going stronger than ever, thanks to all of these new matte painted frames. That's right, companies are pumping out frames that are purpose-built for free-writing. The matte paint options are greater than ever, and so free-writing boundaries seem endless. But the real secret to the free-writing revolution is the lowly little tool called an Oil Pencil. These lil guys work perfectly with the matte paint. And they can be picked up at any local shop that knows what's up and supports free-writing. Or, at your local arts supplies store. The marks can be removed with effort. But they don't smear too easily from my experience. Keep free-writing free. Peace.
