haha josh has never even landed that drop, and he has no style whatsoever he just rides off things and hopes for the best
Personally I think that Josh Bender has really carried this sport to where it is right now. With out him, I don't think that people would think to do the things that they do now like going off big drops and such. I find that Josh Bender is a true hero and icon to the sport and people don't give him enough credit for how much he has made mountain biking what it is now. But I guess it all comes down to opinion.
TJ-downhill, you cant say hes brought mountain biking to what it is now, because many many others do the same, just not to the extreme. And he may have help big mountain riding, but what about all the other diciplines, slopestyle, freeride, dj, DOWNHILL. Thats only a very small part of what biking is today. So obviously my opinion oposses yours, but like you said, its just opinion.
Josh bender does big drops but dies because he can't land the, he also has no style what so ever and needs to learn hoe to ride a bike

To all you who are dissing Bender: I dont see any of you guys doing drops half that size and i have never seen or heard or anyone doing a drop that big, sure he doesnt have much style, but he does have balls..you would need em to send something like that.

the reason he doesnt land most things is because the rebound of his rear shock is so fast it boots him over the bars thats what the second shock on his bike is there for but you try dropping with a 1400 pound spring rate and see how much you land
Do you think his rebound is to high? or is he blowin his shock when he lands thus negating any rebound damping? I always figured the latter but he could be a dumbass.
i know for sure the jaw drop is 55 feet i live in kamloops wear it is at and also bender would hit a 100 foot drop and he did at the red bull challenge and broke almost all the bones from his hips down and also for all of you bender does have style he can actually do a back flip on his 80 pound plus bike he is a great rider and all around guy if you ever get to meet him

josh bender has style, his style is going off huge drops that noone else has the balls to do, he actually is a good rider, u just dont usually see him riding anything else, the reason he crashed on the jaw drop is cus it has a shitay landing, its loose gravely sand stuff that as soon as u land u sink in and slow down at a very fast rate
if you google toughest guys in america bender comes like 18th or something. he may not be as stylish as paul bass or cam Mccaul but he is f*cking brave...... or just not all there in the head! either way, he is pretty emmense!

okaay then id liek to see you try that and land it , sept you wouldnt coz your not as gooda rider at that stuff as he is. and theres enough enough reasons in the comments for this picture on why he cant land it so you can 'stfu'.
ya i agree with nerfstar that drop is huge and I haven't seen or herd of anyone else like use going that big.
And for the people who think that bender only hucks, your dumb. he can still ride other bikes and can backflip and 360, etc. And common, hes pretty much a god in the world of biking...he pretty much looks for insane drops and cliffs that no one would even think anything of..then rides his damn bike off it...so all you noobs stfu!
i have never seen him backflip or 360. i'v seen him throw a no footer off of a drop. he lands stuff 40ft n under which is mad...but he has not landed the jaw drop or anythin bigger yet. anybody who argues please send me a video as proof he does not just do drops. props to him for goin big, i would never do that in my life. but, maybe i'm wrong, but it does not take a whole lot of skill to just drop off of something, just guts. anybody who knows how to ride decently can throw themselves off of something without any style. at the redbull rampage he does chose the bigger drops, but doesn't land them. the reason why he never wins is because he does not no-hander, 360, or anything down smaller stuff. he just goes for the big stuff and crashes. think the most i'v done is 17-20 ft...so maybe i'm wrong...but i'd rather see someone tailwhipping off of a table than see someone aimlessly throw themselves off of a cliff. he is a good rider and lands stuff that we wouldn't attempt...but i think that most of experienced riders can do it...we just chose not to cause we care about getting injured...he doesn't. it doesn't take more skill to go big, just a lack of fear of getting injured. just like if you can 360 a curb, you can 360 10 stairs...it's the same thing...just more fear is involved.

man, this picture is from way back in the day, its old, and the drop is in kamloops, its 55 feet, and no one has ever landed it so everyone sould just get over it.
i dont think thats 100 ft, but w/e, depends on how far down he lands on the tranny, but even still, 100 ft, is a long ways

man when i go home from town i see that every time its like 50 to 60 feet and hell its only a hundred feet if he lands in the creek and he would be died if he did and plus he diden't even land it

People can dis from the internet and I agree he is not up to date with the back flip crowd. But,, Bender was doing it BIG before anyone else. BEFORE ANYONE ELSE!! Not after the New World Collective Kranked video people rush to see came out. Evel Knievel was going big and also wrecked his ass off but he is still the man because before he did it no one else had the sack no matter what. You don't have to like what he has done but he deserves respect.
