This is a pretty basic build. BB7 brakes, X7 drivetrain and Truvativ bits and pieces. Basic, but good for winter. All told, it retails for $1950(can) or so. It weighs in at about 41.5 pounds if I remember correctly. I figure that the lowest we can go with a full build (18 speed) is probably around 1500. You'd get some X5 stuff and maybe BB5 brakes and some other stuff. If you went with a single speed as Surly original designed it for, we could lower that by another 300 bucks or so.

I'd love to build one of these bikes with a Shiver, or Dorado, and a little better part spec on it.

Neither of those forks would work. The pugsley runs a rear wheel (135) for a front wheel and the frame needs to be a special shape for that to work.
As far as a better part spec goes... what's the point? It's a slow winter bike... X9 or X0 or XTR ain't gonna change that.

That's why you build the wheel on a regular hub... I mention a Shiver or Dorado because those are the only forks that might fit the width of that tire.

you spent $2000 on a rigid 41 pound bike? whats even the point of this? it would be wayy to heavy to try and pedal through anything those tires are made for.

Ahhh, Mr. Odin333 you couldn't be further from the truth on two things. One is, I didn't pay that much for a 41 pound rigid bike... owning a bike shop has its benefits. Two, this may actually be the most amazing winter riding bike ever. You don't have to believe me on that, but it's the truth.
