flag jallan (Jan 22, 2008 at 14:01)
Probably by some sort of rotational affect that the wheel undergoes, Im not too sure on that one though.

The chain is enclosed in the single left chainstay.

flag hermo44 (Jan 26, 2008 at 10:51) (Below Threshold) show comment
there might not even be a chain, it might almost be a cam shaft type thing going through the chainstay and turnin the wheel right from the axle... just a possibility

flag extremedhracer (Feb 27, 2008 at 8:13)

That bike just looks brilliant, mono-arm suspension, internal gearbox, the works. Have read a lot about this bad boy in dirt and from what I hear this is the future of downhill bikes here today.

this guy is nothing short of genius ... this is just one of many truly inavative things this guy has come up with , i mean look at the competion in the shape of other top companys , they quite frankly suck , gearboxes bigger then on any motor bike u will ever seen and usually weigh as much at a moto bike to... If this guy had the backing of one of the big players in mtb scene he would take over imo

He made everything work great, no chains, no shifters making noize, no probs with chainguides, The only thing i dont like is how he made the syspention to move. But on other hand its everything a downhiller would want.

apparently, according to dirt, it works using nitrogen instead of air and works like custard(i.e. you stand in custard and youll sink, you walk across it and it becomes more firm...there is a fancy word for it but i dunno what it is.all in all though, quite clever

dilatant is the word i was looking for

flag billygoatsgruff (Jan 25, 2008 at 13:49)
dilatant - "exhibiting an increase in volume on being changed in shape, owing to a wider spacing between particles."

If you punch custard it hurts and there's no real mark. If you gently increase pressure without and impact you'll be elbow deep in custard. The same goes for nitrogen i suppose. Also probably Blu-Tac, though I'm just guessing.

I like to think of it as a Chinese finger trap. The more you pull the tighter it gets.

To all of our friends outside of the UK who haven't seen this bike yet- Welcome to the future! Internal gearbox, fully enclosed drive-train running in it's own oil bath, hydra-gas shock derived from a ministry of defence design, brake caliper and rotor mounted directly to the swing arm (so that the brake always stays aligned during wheel removal and replacement), near silent running- this machine is incredible!! Personally, I think it even makes the Honda RN-01 look a bit, well, last year!
Mr Millyard you are a genius! This one looks even more purposeful than the 0001. The geometry looks so much more usable. Damn! That thing must be FAST!! I want one!
