They're not burns, the area bordered by the stitches was hanging off and you could see bone... the rest is gravel rash.

Because there is a great big disclaimer in the armour itself saying that it is only meant to assuage injury, not prevent it totally. And then I would have to prove it was done up correctly, and about a thousand other variables that would mean it would not get anywhere near a claims court, and would only cost me a lot of $$
