ahhh.. sick?
That's an awesome picture, and some nice riding
...but he should have been wearing a helmet, especially with extreme stuff like this
...but he should have been wearing a helmet, especially with extreme stuff like this
maybe... I just don't like watching smashed heads in crashes/carnage section. Wearing lids doesn't hurt.
So does brain damage. Keeping your brains on the right side of your skull is not a fashion statement, its the preserve of those with IQ above room temperature.
very much agreed, but then again it usually takes a drastic situation (like ending up in the hospital with brain damage) for people to realize that what they used to do was uh... stupid. bottom line, wear a god damn lid if not anything else. riders at that level should know better, especially since they are trying to progress their own skills, that their noggin is more important then a f*cking stupid trend in bmxing.
everyday i wonder if i should end my life or not, so if i'm not wearing a helmet and i die, it makes the desicion to kill my self so much more simple. and if i get brain damage i'll either be a veg and not give a f*ck or i'll pull the plug on my self when i'm in the hospital... i know this seems rather drastic for alot of you,but this is nothing put of the ordinary for someone like me, i just don't really care about anything.
sorry but it seems rybennett that you are an emo (in a mentality meaning, beaing emo doesn't necessarily requires look like a death metal transvestite)-> why did U write the above then? what was the point of that?
...looks like they were in a helicopter or a tree or something to get that picture from that angle...
yea thats what i was thinkin.... a helicopter??? WTF... like 10ft of the ground in the urban... hahaha...
brian i've never shown you my helicopter? it awesome for urban shots. plus you get that fashion wind affect, makes the rider look like they are hauling balls. you have to keep the pedestrian casualties at a min though. lol. freakin sweet shot by the way.
Yeah, it's one of those windless helicopters! That's why all the leaves are sitting nicely on the ground. DUHHH!
jesus christ...f*ck you all, you guys are wayyyy to into this...just chill out and find something else to spend your time doing...

when me and my mates were teenagers,we used to jump some local steps on our racers with wide bars on! the steps were 18foot to flat!! many times the bars would snap and also the frames after a while. Now when i look back i think we were nuts! (i am 41 now), what i am saying is go for it and big respect!
love it! represent MA!
on a side note, i saw the thumbnail of this and figured it was BMX, but a big part of my hoped it was a mountain bike. for once i wanna see this kind of stuff get thrown down on a 26'er!

Why? Do you sell mountain bike parts or something? I do. Hey! Thats a good idea! Lets pay kids to do BMX riding on mountain bikes. Then we can photograph them and put them in magazines and videos and trick other kids into buying these heavy, flexy, fragile, overpriced, 26" wheeled contraptions! Kids all over the world will be trying to ride BMX on these "mountain bikes" but they will be so much harder to do tricks on and so big and cramped that they are constantly buying new parts to solve the problems they are having with broken parts and horrible style. Oh yeah, and of course we know that doing tricks and riding bikes on jumps IS BMX no matter what size wheels you have, but we can tell the kids that this is something different an new, not BMX. That way the "mountain bike" kids will think they are part of some special club and they wont realize that they could buy a bike for 1/3 the cost that lasts 10 times longer and allows them to do the tricks and jumps they are trying to do way easier. Good idea!
i ride bmx and mtb for that very reason, actually. my statement was made because when i see (for example) a bunnyhop tail whip on a mtb i think "holy jesus! that is insane!" but when i see it on a bmx, i think, "wow, thats pretty sweet!" i just like seeing this kind of gnarly 20 incher tricks being thrown down by a 26 incher. i favor watching bmx videos because for the most part they impress me more, but when a mtb rider pushes the limits and does something only a guy on a 2o'' bike could do it makes it that much more impressive.
and yeah, you got me, i sell bike parts.
http://www.nextag.com/bicycle-horn/search-html
you should get one (or 3) for ye olde bmx bike.

my opinion couldnt be more different from yours phosphorsburn. I think BMXers should be BMXers and likewise for MTBers (obviously Im not saying someone cant do both). I'd much rather watch martinez or bestwick ride BMX and vanderham or Hill ride MTB, because the 2 types of bikes are naturally inclined towards performing better at what they do - so a person who pushes hard in 1 disipline will always get the furthest in terms of progression. For instance turn downs always look better and more locked in on a 20'er because there's a huge gap between the top of the bars and the top-tube for the leg to sit between. They look far more natural than on a 26'.
i would also like to see a 20incher bomb a DH course... am i wrong or would that be really friggin impressive? i mean, dumb, but impressive if he (or she) killed it.
no phosphorburn that would be f*ckin retarded. why would you ever ride a bmx bike on a downhill course. i agree with meh and mecabeat on this one. mountain bikes should stick to the mountain and bmx bikes should stick to the street and parks. its what there made for
notice my last sentence: "i mean, dumb, but impressive." i completely agree with you, but none the less, i would be impressed... i would be doing a lot of head-shaking for sure.
Yeah! I think its super funny and entertaining when I see people riding "mountain bikes" at my trails. Its like watching a clown on a miniature bike at the circus... except the opposite... and they're always casing and landing rear wheel first, ha ha ha! Oh man, its so fun to watch. I am all for it!
No, you're smooth as butter trailsteez! Im talkin bout non-locals who come to visit and break their forks off trying to do sideways backflips and other circus tricks.
BMX parts are pretty sturdy dude.
And they use 20mm thru-axels on mtb because theyre leighter, stronger for offroad use, easier to use, etc.

bmx is for kids. As you grow, you start wearing your helmet, and riding some real bike. Awesome job, but get a real bike... ...and a health insurance
edit quote- bmx is for kids. as you grow, you start wearing your helmet, and riding some real bike, doing smaller tricks, find yourself sitting around and talking at the local rides instead of sessioning. awesome job, but get a real bike.....and a health insurance. - end quote
with gettig the real bike that was kind a stupid but... with the helmet, yes... when someone finaly grows up mentaly - he starts a helmet (ofk some kids are wise enough to wear helmet before their wee wee gets hard for the first time - but some after 30 still think its not cool to wear a helmet - no helmet is a statement - it's a lifestyle!)
[Reply]
What do you land nose first on a mtb? Landing rear wheel first on a bmx vs a hardtail is exactly the same.

Great trick and great photo! Definately makes for an awesome POD!
As for all the helmet-nazis...
PERSONAL CHOICE people, that's what it's all about.

PERSONAL CHOICE people, that's what it's all about.
It is not a personal choice -> U influence kids with riding with it or without. U dont wear it and U jump around they will not wear it too, and not all of them are so skilled or rather -> not so lucky to come out healthy from their riding without it.
- Yes it is your choice to show kids what should they do - if you had a kid would you as his father tell him: U wanna ride without it, its your choice?! Or would you prefer to lower the risk of loosing your child?
- it is your choice to put all the financial and mostly emotional weight on your family when something happens
- it is your choice to achieve something in life or be disabled or dead, because U did not wear a helmet just because of some attitude and shallow belief...

2 things: 1 - drops to flat WILL f*ck up your bike; I don't care HOW gnarcore you think you are or how soft your landings are, a drop that big to flat WILL kill your bike. 2 - no helmet; no props. It's not just a PERSONAL choice to wear a helmet or not, it's a responsible choice; I don't know this kid, but I'm damn sure his parents/siblings/friends would be mighty pissed if he was killed/brain damaged while doing stuff like this. Think about it; it's not just about YOU but the people you leave behind.
I am sure if he is good enough to t-down a 12 set he has clocked his dome a few times in the past if he doesnt wear a helmet so what let him f*ck his life up.
because who the hell he thinks he is to f*ck someone's life up because of this immature attitude as there is no logical or functional reason to not wear it. Also because he f*cks up the life of kids watching him and choosing not to wear a helmet
i dont normally post comments on pictures because i cant be bothered but pictures should not be allowed to be PODs if the stupid riders dont choose to wear helmets. 3 years ago i made that mistake and it nearly cost me my life and now i wear a helmet everywhere. i dont know where this gay bmx idea came from where its "cool" to not wear helmets but its stupid and have a nasty crash and you will die. there is no maby about it. Nasty crash + no helmet = brain damage or death. like i say i dont know why they think its so cool and when they do wear one they dont strap it but frankly these guys should not get POD for being so unbeleivably stupid and basically gambling their lives. IDIOTIC MORONS thats if you ask me lol
If you want to tell people how to live their lives and what to do or what not to do, then may I suggest you get a job in governemnt... you wont change the world posting comments on Pinkbike.
You guys going to tell me I should stop smoking next?
Let the negative props roll in... I dont care.
You guys going to tell me I should stop smoking next?
Let the negative props roll in... I dont care.
you make a valid point, but all this guy is saying is that all posting this picture is going to do is exacerbate the standard that not wearing your helmet is cool. he also just cares about his fellow man... and rider.
to citizenlee. im not telling them how to live their lives. over in america it aint too bad coz they pay their own medical expesies. Whereas over here we have to splash out thousands and thousands of pounds because some lazy guy "couldnt be bothered" wearing a helmet. fair play if they choose not to....i personally just thinks its selfish. people who die from this have families. do u think they are going to go " u know what is was their choice not to wear a helmet. owell its in the past now" no they have just lost a brother, son, sister just because they were too selfish to not wear a helmet. all im saying is no helmet....no POD
You could say the same about people who brake bones and whatnot 'they're doing that stupid dangerous sport and costing us taxpayers money'. but being hypocritical is ok as long a it goes along with the current 'helmet whine' trend, right? wrong, stop whining and ride a bike.
hahahaha i broke my collar bone and wrist and got brain damage and had to take a 3 hour trip to a specialist to get a cat scan on my head lol i still dont wear a helmet unless im on the trails lol i guess im just a big dumby than

wooooooooooooooooooh
its the same in the states, its called wellfare, and disability, people just sit at home and collect of tax payers like me so they have money for lotto and cigarattes.
and that dude nuts! nice!

chrisbee stfu u act like ur dope shit on a mtb but bmx is for any age just like mtb,i own 2 dirtbiks a mtb and a bmx and bmx is so f*ckin sweet if u can do tricks, when people like you and all those other kids complain about mtbs or bmxers it just wrecks gthe sport, a bike is a bike,no matter wich style or what style u ride in, so growup u f*ckin gook
ive seen better but stilll sick we need more dj pics of hardtails im sick of seaing bmx and freeride
[Reply]
i aint a huge fan of bmx but when i see a turndown and a 12 set hat's off you have got balls of steel
wear a helemt though
wear a helemt though
k eveyone shut up, this isnt a mtb site, if it was the word moutain bike or mtb would be in the site name, but its not, its called pink "bike" meaning if u ride a bike u can put ur pics on here, u mtb's complain like little bitches once u see a bmx pic anywhere, ill admit mtb is crazy shit, i do both bmx and mtb, but just to setle this, scotty cranmer powns everyone
k, let's think. this isn't even focused, and the rider doesn't even has a helmet.
so, why is this pod?
so, why is this pod?

i just think mecabeat is sick because he wants to take pictures of kids... but the picture... oh my lord that is style!!!
Hey, bad news. I just found out that my idea has already been done. Damn! I could have made a lot of money. As it turns out this has been going on for a while now. Some company named Kona has been paying BMX riders to ride their heavy ass bikes in videos and even contests. Contests that look like BMX contests, but you're only allowed to ride these big clumsy bikes in them. Apparently some suckers are actually fooled into buying these bikes!
why dont bmx n mtb get along? you can do bmx tricks on mtb or mtb tricks on bmx it dosent matter aslong as we notice gd riding, who could care? im a mountainbiker but i give my full respect to anyone who rides a BIKE. great pic best ive seen as pod for a while
keep it up
why do people think this is a strictly mtb site? it's for bikers in general(but not gay motor bikers, and do get all pissy because someone dosn't ride the same style as you do. I love riding both BMX and mountain, whats wrong with that?
PS: f***'n love this pic, on of my fave POD's!

and i havent been on here in a while so if there have been other street pods recently, i apologize.

I Like Biking as much as the next guy but bmx really is a kids sport, its for peopl who have yet to grow some balls and do real jumps, rather than hangoing out at the skatepark aall day, MOuntian biking is a true sprot, bmxs are little kids/beginner bikes end of story, BUt eitehr way that looks sikk i'd like to knw how that felt when u landed
thats why bmxers do shit like 1080's and 360 trip whips and 720 double whips eh? im not dissin mtbs but id like to see them do that shit. and grow some balls? bmxers hit bigger shit rigid than alot of mtbers with fullys... and they throw some tricks into it. have u ever seen a bmx vid of them dirt jumpin? its f*ckin insane. get some knowledge before u talk shit.
so dialed! but tht would be A hardass landing!
props to ye bro, u got some balls... and people commenting on the no helmet, like seriously do u honestly care? like wtf,
ryda69er ur 15 lol... ur a little kid,bmx and mtb are for all ages man, when u hit puberty and ur balls drop ul relize bniking is for anyone,so go die little kid
[Reply]
one of the best pod's in a long time and who cares if he dosnt have a helmet he just dosnt like them it is his choice and u guys need to stop crying about it sick style to man u have skill
The kid's going fast enough it won't be a hard landing. Have any of you wimps rode anything other than fully suspended bicyles? It's also true that he is obviously talented enough (i.e. turndown down a set of stairs) that he can make the judgment call on whether he should don a helmet or not. You guys spouting about helmets, uh, jealousy is the tribute mediocrity pays to genius. Not saying Jake's a genius, but you guys are blubbering infants.
sick pic but no helmet and that is very bad !!!!! when your little brother come home with 20 stiches in is head, have another look on the daily pod!
stupid pink bike mtbers no absolutly nothing about bmx and it makes me laugh, and to all the people bitching about the helmet your just jelous you dont have the balls to do what hes doing (and yes i where a helmet every ride) but seriously this guy has skills props to the rider on this one and negitive props to all the retarded mtbers who dont know anything about bmx
ok to everyone b!tch!ng about the helmet the kids 19 years old i think he can make out his own mind up if he wants to wear a helmet or not and dont u think if he thought he was going to crash he wouldnt do it anyways that would f*ck up his hole career in biking cause hes sponsered by sunday bmx and man made clothing
loving the nike shoes lmfao who needs a helmat when u have shoes like that (kidding) umm dude wear a helmat, when i fist started biking i HATED helmats with a passion, but once you wear one alot u get over it. If your going around town doing nothing then i can see that but if your hitting stuff like this, please, wear a helmat. Im tired of my parents saying omfg look another biker got owned. (kinda thing) anyways besides the stupiiddd helmat issue im loving the style and the way the photographer took the shot! congrates on pod.
spanky33 i dont care what the guy is doing !! i blame pink bike for making it a pod !!
we all know that bmxers ride without lid but. younge kids need good roll models!!
we all know that bmxers ride without lid but. younge kids need good roll models!!
ok this hole helmet thing is really pissin me off, bitching about it isnt going to make a helmet apear on his head in the pic or make him wear one so just stop
[Reply]
yea but a bean cap isnt going to save ur face just the top and back of ur head so there pretty much useless
Riding without a helmet is f*****g pathetic from my poin of view, i hope that i share that thought among many others to. Very nice pic anyhow
man i love the arguements about "fuk wear a helmet oi" "its personel choice oi" ah who cares honestly. riding is an individual sport, hear that kids INDIVIDUAL.
nice pic dude. keep up the riding
