why male teenagers happen to be the vast majority of admirers of such things? mhm... well I think that's normal from psychological point of view: a young male needs to figure out and settle his position "in the pack"... if he feels so insecure that he may not feel like being able to join any pack, he start to perform aggressive actions in order to establish some kind of a visible sign that is meant to impress any other male or female he is going to meet. If he's more balanced and confident (i.e: he's not EMO) he decides to join some pack, he must consider what pack to choose, and what kind of psychical comfort does it give to him and what actualy can this pack actualy give him in the future. Unfortunately biking mates are a pack that is quite small and cannot help to achieve anything constructive in other aspects or life like career and family life. It's a passion though which is important for males too. Finaly to the point: other packs that he will meet in the future, like work mates, potential wives - packs much bigger and more helpful in these other life aspects, will not appreciate the membership to the small freaky pack. (i.e. carrier pack can provide money for future wife, kids and really nice bike and trips to bikeparks! - very useful)Therefore such a visible statement of devotion to some biking thing is... gonna make him regret it!
