Damn, that is one crazy pic, not to menchion an insane table tansfer. POD!
really muddy dull bottom half of the photo, then the bright colours of the rider and sky stand out so well, what a contrast! nice pic! POD
this reminds me of gears of war, the way the ground is. and it looks absolutly EPIC! great pod. hope to see more that are as good as this
looks like a crazy video game for xbox360!! almost like..dare should i say this..tony hawks project 8..

Okay this is the best pictures I have ever seen here, I don't know if its how the picture was taken or the editting skills but this picture it just completely insane no matter what way you look at it
Thanks for the kind words guys
In answer to how the shot was achieved, it's one RAW file processed in to 7 seperate JPGES (from -3 to +3 E.V) then combined in Photomatix Pro.
I'm going to be shooting more of these in the future and I have a few new ideas, so keep your eyes peeled

I agree, and don't know why your comment has got negative props. Anyone with a remote knowledge of digital photography can tell that that pic is a collage of 2 or more shots as the exposure levels are different in different parts of the photo. The rider is well balanced and bright but the park is much in lower light, and the sky would have to have been taken with a different shutter speed again than. Its not a criticism, it takes a lot of skill to do it well, and this is a great example.
Like foxsco said. Great rider, great photoshop skills.
Why people think this is an unsult i will never know, pretty much every photo you ever see in the media is photoshopped in some way.
Definite POD.
I'll add great photograher!

i totally agree, saying its photoshop takes nothing away from either the rider or photographer. the rider has awesome skill for doing the transfer nd the photographer is pretty gd to bring the two pics together and create this awesome pic
POD for sure
POD for sure
I could be wrong, but I don't think it is a photo...it looks like an airbrush painting. They are getting amazingly realistic with airbrush techniques.
its a HDR image. its probably a merge of 3 variations of the photo at different exposures. he probs shot this is raw then edited it in photoshop and photomatix.

just plain amazing. love the use of colours in it. did you just desaturate the far ground?
very nice!
very nice!
Hi guys.
To answer a few questions about the shot.
It's an HDR shot made up of 7 jpegs, I then did some post work on it including some desaturation, levels and curves.
My camera is a Canon 40D and the lens here is a Sigma 10-20mm.
And the dave hill comments...well this isn't really in his style, he uses wrap around lighting and heavy post work rather than a straight forward HDR process as seen here.
I'll be doing more of these with a few little twists...so keep watching my photostream!
Also check out my blog...www.adamswords.co.uk/blog
Thanks guys!

offyatree, the original doesn't have as much impact, the sky is blown and there is no detail in the ramps...trust me this one aesthetically more pleasing.

This blows away yesterday's POD. It's still got a pretty background, but the rider is doing a bit more than riding over a rock. I love HDR photos.

myers are you some sort of blind f*cking retard that picture is absaloutly sick it definately is worth being POD briliant photo and use of photo shop
How did you layer 7 photos on HDR without getting ghosting artifacts if your camera does only 4.5 shots a second? What I mean is, how is it still so crisp?
[Reply]
I give my props all the the photographer and whoever worked with this shot in photoshop, not syaing the rider is photoshopped before all you people bash me..but the background and colors are, but its sweet looking so awesome job!

Thats one wild pic dude, The graff in the park is killer, it's wicked how if differs from places to places different styles and what not, Just like how people ride..kepp it up brah, thats a rad pic
thats sick, i love the photoshop effects. And on that note I would like to add a comment about people who complain about photoshopped images. In my opinion it is okay, it adds effect, just like making it black and white or sepia tone. filters and such are okay - however if somone was to "super-impose" a rider over a 50ft. drop, then yes that is ridiculous. my 2 cents.

Answers:
The rider looks brighter than the background because I used layer masks to selectively adjust the curves for different parts of the image, such as the ramps to bring out the detail.
canferimages, it's done with Photomatix Pro, not Photoshop.
I took a tone-mapped HDR JPG from Photomatix then edited it in photoshop.
I took the photograph and did all of the editing work, I'll be writing a bit more about it on my blog: www.adamswords.co.uk/blog

Read books on photoshop, look for tutorials online and practice a load. Anybody can edit like this with a little time

nice one man, i like the kind of HDR achieved by the multiple exposures form the raw file. I do it sometime to get eye detail from behind people's glasses/visors/glasses.
the photographers skill is amazing, this is one of the nicest photos i ever seen, i am blown away. nice riding too

cr33py, sorry to burst your bubble, but that's called panning my friend
This shot is 100% real, it's just had some post work done on it. I'm quite flattered that people think it's so good that it's a fake though!

This picture is unreal...like crazy good, definitely the best picture i have ever seen for biking, please tell me there is no photoshop involved to sharpen the image and touch up colours...gnarly transfer too
ok wats up with some ppl?? they right something like nice pic and people give minus 40 props then others go out of the way to comment on how stupid that person is like the purpose of pod is to show off some pics and offer your opinion not diss others.
i know in the past that there have been alot of people who have said POY (pic of year) but i really believe that this one could be just that great and im sure that alot of people agre with me
[Reply]
that is so sweet... you can tell it's photoshopped but it's hard to do. however, i'm not saying that photoshopping means taking a bad rider and putting him / her in a sick spot, i'm saying that adding the other hues to the background is such a sweet idea... i'll have to think of that one next time... props to you man...

Modern art, its nice to see no horrible comments too. it will be up there with pic of the year. beautiful.
when u enlarge it, ( eg desktop bakground) it looks like the rider is a painting over a photo!! wtf!
It's making me cringe to think that people are using this low res version as desktop backgrounds! Have you no sense of pixellation?!

i gotta say.. i agree witha few people on the not being a picture, but an airbrush or something of the sort type of drawing. regardless of how it was done (camera, air brush, paints, etc.) the person who put it together has mad skill. props for sure
Gabeb, it's 100% a photograph. But it's simply been converted to an HDR image and then post processed in Photoshop to enhance various parts on it.
kinda looks like its off a playstation or xbox-looks mint though-definetally pod-definatelly made my faves

I love how there are amazing clouds with power lines in front of it, Brilliant contrast there. THE POD OF ALL PODS!
