Proposed design for GCSE DT project. Based around The dc special bike. I wont be producing it officially as a company or anything.

Basically the rear mech is inside the frame, as is the cassette, instead of at the back. This wont feature gears that can change when your coating, unless i can sort out a fixie hub, Its just so there isnt a mech to catch on roots etc.

Yeah, its just a prototype idea. Didnt think about what would work, just an idea. I know the concept works, as its based around the DC Special - look on littermag. I just made the top tube low, It will be pretty different when i come to build it.. if.

yeh at the moment the shock with hit the top tube under compression, and there will be looaaads of travel, cos a large movement of the swingarm equates to a tiny movement of the shock

You sir are an absolute idiot. The chain length will change so your chain will go extremely slack and fall off. You'll hit the mech and the cassette with your foot. How will you fit a freehub to the frame, and how would you get it out for servicing? The frame will become so weak with a hole for the mech and the freehub that it will snap. On top of that, when the frame compresses, the swingarm will hit the derailleur and the cassette.

Why do this much work for gcse? I made a safe out of plywood with a really simple electronic lock and I got an A.

Waste of time, effort and money. On top of that it's possibly the worst frame design I've ever seen. I'd rather race an apollo or a shockwave than this.

Idiot.

Ever heard the common phrase 'f*ck off'? Well, if not, you have now.

Just a random design done in 10 mins on photoshop, dont shit yourself.

Also your assuming ALOT. The mech and shiz are in the middle of the frame - half way down it splits in to two tubes. There isnt a freehub in the frame, the chain would just spin. Also the chainlength wont change if you use your brain, its connected to the pivot at one end, and the cassette at the other. So your the idiot on that one.

Ok I'll write in behalf of my friend who wrote this on my account.

Although it was a rather rude response, there is some constructive criticism to consider. The frame splits into to right? Bear in mind this will weaken the frame and will be wider so may hit the cranks. No freehub? How are you going to freewheel or fit the cassette then?

On another of your designs (the latest one) you've got a single pivot design which is notorious for chain growth, bear in mind its going around the pivot on an axis the chain will grow, this isn't a problem on bikes like a 224 as you've got a mech on the bike which tensions the chain. Also, how on earth will a cassette stop chain growth without changing gear?
