It's been photoshopped to look like a crash. and it's very obvious. look at the dust underneath the car and the incorrect perspective of the car. Still, cool job!

Perhaps the event did happen... but in that case the newspapers probably patched that picture together so they'd have a picture to sell the story with.
You cannot deny the fact that the picture is not real. Look at the perfectly straight dust cloud underneath the car? And look carefully at the way the wheels are in relation to the road. perspective is totally wrong. If it was real you would not be able to see as much of the front left wheel.

I am now undecided... It is possible that the cars back wheels are slightly raised above the ground due to the impact created from hitting the cyclists. That would explain the odd angle is sits at in the picture. Whilst the dust cloud is an odd shape, it does look more realistic from further back in my room...
On the other hand... msnbc would certainly pay a lot of money for an action shot like this - there is incentive to create it.

A similar thing happened near us, but not as bad. Some assh*le drove into the Tour Of Britian because he thought that it was an unproper use of the Lake District. Despite the fact it's a road race! So he thinks it's ok for cars to drive on the road but not bikes to ride on it.
