...But I would have either run a lower power on the flash, or shot it a bit later in the day.

can't get much later than this, 1/2 hour AFTER sunset, hence the purple clouds

could be darker though, wait a wee while longer and up the shutter speed Razz I just think the rider and tree is a little over-exposed

thanks for the suggestion, but shutter speed has nothing to do with flash power

yes i know, but it will let less light in, hence darkening the picture and helping cure the over-exposure

Shutter speed does not affect the amount of light that comes in from the flash, it only affects ambient light. If you think something is overexposed, a smaller aperture would have darkened the entire scene more, or less flash power would have darkened the rider/tree. There is no overexposure, but thanks for your feedback. It was taken over a year ago so I might have done it differently now. The brightness you are seeing is because it was uploaded as AdobeRGB rather than sRGB, so it's not optimized for the web. Regardless, this was the end of an 8-hour day of riding, probably 30,000' of total descending, and we were in a hurry to get back before dark so there wasn't much time going into these shots. Thanks for caring!

hey, im mearly engaging in conversation? am I not allowed to discuss the shot in a critical manner? or am I to view in ignorance just because its an amazing shot? I learn a lot like this, discussions should always be encouraged imo.

the adobe RGB would explain it, i suffer from the same problem Razz Its a sick pic none-the-less. but i think you should delete these comments as I can see this making pod and i wouldnt want to cramp the comments section with a load of shite Razz

No problem. There are alot of guys on here trying to learn things and I think together we have done a good job explaining some of it for them. Outputting for sRGB is the way to go for using on the internet. Thanks!
