with a thomson Master peice post, and some XTR or something similar cranks, you could drop er down some more Blank Stare

I have a hollow pin and side plate half link chain coming, but I ain't going any lighter on the cranks. If I shed any more weight it will be rotating weight only. I want to try converting my tires to tubeless that will save about 80g per wheel or about 1/3 of a pound.

I tried 2008 DuraAce cranks, but that was a disaster. They are way too flexy on the gate starts.

The only thing not pimped is the brake. I'd go with a Paul Motolite v-brake and 2-finger lever, personally. Also, about the cranks, the fact that you found D/A cranks to be too flexy is no way indicitave of how XTR cranks would feel. Trust me, XTR cranks are freakishly stiff. Also, you could drop some weight if you went with some Profile hubs with Ti axles and bolts, and also ceramic bearings in your bottom bracket.

My brakes are pimped out now, I now have Avid Single Digit Ultimate's with matching lever.

As for cranks XTR's may be stiff, but the RF Atlas are great I have them on all 3 of my race bikes.

I am all about cost to performance, And Ceramic BB's are pointless!!! Look into it, for the amount they cost, the performance increase is just not there. As for weight they weigh 2 grams less, big deal. If I was to get a BB that has a definite performance benefit I would go with the new Chris King BB. It has a special tool to purge the old grease out and push new grease in. The cool thing about this is you can take out the heavy grease and put in lighter weight grease on race day to lower the drag in the BB.

Sorry man, but Profile hubs are turd. I had a set of Profile cassettes on this bike with Mavic Xy rims and the rear bearings had to be replaced twice in one season of racing. Needless to say they were sold at the end of the season and replaced with Chris Kings. The Kings I have on there now are 4ish years old and all they have needed is the regular cleaning and greasing of the ring drive...

Your build would be sweet, but these are the reasons I built my bike the way I have.

Cheers

I didn't say anything about being practical. I said "pimped."

I'm surprised that you aren't running an FSA carbon headset
