so nice
i hate norcos with a passion almost as much as i hate konas, but damn, their 09 stuff is growing on me, i might buy one to be honest, holy cow dude...did i really just say that
well it started b/c they were pretty chunky, then they weren't as refined as boutique companies etc. Now i think people hate just hearing about them from people that don't know a lot about bikes. Honestly the first bike people usually hear about in the gravity sector is Kona.. so they get boners over them and yak about them all the time.
I know its obnoxious when people try to talk bikes and have no idea about companies like Intense, Turner, Yeti or even Santa Cruz.
Konas, like Norcos are solid bikes though maybe not 100% top shelf.. anyone that disagrees doesn't know what they are talking about.

yeah i agree. its just like sector 9 with longboards, the first longboard brand a noob is going to hear is sector 9 and it is the same with the whole kona deal. and plus i dislike konas because of their bulk, and because of how stiff they are.
I have no complaints about kona's performance. Some of the bikes are a bit chunky but thats not a huge issue. The problem comes when they SNAP. Kona always brings out a new bike that changes my opinion, the new cowan hardtail for example. Looks good, feels great to ride, super light. Then a buddy of mine snapped one in half on a really gentle step-up case - he is smooth as hell anyway and had the frame for about a month.
So far i havent seen many problems with the cowan DS but i've seen the back ends of way too many stinkys completely f*ck up and way too many konas snap. Its enough to put me off anyway - thats just my opinion and experiences.

really !?!?! how could you f**k up the rear end of a kona mines beasty as hell, mind you mines from 2002,but still. Wth were they doing?
i'm usually not an advocate of really thought out graphics on bikes, but this one is pretty clever.. its fresh without being retarded..
I'd like to see one of these bikes in person.

It's more like pro's wouldn't ride them if they weren't getting payed.... but yeah. The empire is looking way dialed
FSR, frame surround rear shock, Exact same top and bottom tube shape-- totally the 08 SX Trail. But whatever, if it is sweet, it's sweet. Norco rips!
its because FSR suspension was designed and patented by norco and specialized s-works team several years ago. norco doesn't own the design but specialized allows them to use it on their products because of a partnership. the reason it looks like an sx-trail is because its the same dam suspension platform the curved top tube also doesn't give any justice to the fact that norco is supposed to be unique to their own. BUT on the other side of the story it is infact basically an sx trail and everybody loves sx-trails right? so y not redesign it, put a norco sticker on it and sell it as a cheeper more affordable build so those who dream to own an sx can now have one.
well put stpgeminirider, i have looked around for an all-around full suspension, and now its like Norco is handing it to me on a gold plater, if i can get the funds, i think i might buy it, and try to find some good trails around my area to ride, since there isnt too much.
Nice to see all these people saying how much they like the bike
, oh wait, nope, everyone is having the kona argument on pinkbike again, yet again!
the reason everyone hates kona is because the come with crank systems that are called ``Jack Shit`` and also WAH WAH peddals...did they get hellen keller to name their shit... and whats with the weird bends and extra weight for no reason that kona seems to enjoy putting on their bikes.... anyway, that is a very nice bike. i cant wait to try it when it comes to my shop.
i hate the norco, kona hating, if its good enough for boyko to win crankworx and spin a 25 ft drop, its good enough for anyone on this site, cause are you spinning 25 ft drops. I myself have owned Norco all my life, they've always had excellent service ( for me), the last 2 years there bikes have been on par with some of the other companies out there, of course they're not going to have bikes like santa cruz, intense and yeti, you cant really compare them, so stop your whining and go ride your bikes!
Can't beat Norco for "bang for your buck" though, for sure. Very solid bikes for not too exorbitant prices. If you don't have 4000 bucks to spend on a bike, I find it's better to go for Norco. Cheaper, locally made (if you live in BC, anyways), made for the shore, so they're burly...
