You have got to be joking me... Why the hell would you pull over? Put the pedal to the metal!

flag shreddermcgee (Jul 24, 2008 at 23:30)
He probably pulled over because if he 'put the pedal to the metal'
the cop would write down the license plate number,
they'd use it to find his house, then charge him with
speeding and resisting arrest and he'd go to jail or
have to pay some big ass fine.

cops needs to expand its show to bike cops and rent-a-cops. i don't know if anyone outside of the u.s. knows what im talking about, but there want to be cops with no respect or authority walk around "protecting" the school.

your forgetting that your comparing an north american sports car to a european one. (assuming u mean the zr1)

europe = twisty/curvy roads, not that many straights
north america = straight roads, turns when they had to make them

so in NA, having lots of horses is good, cuz youll actually get to use em, over in europe, u just want lots of exceleration and good brakes.

and also, your comparing one aspect of these 2 cars, and only 2 cars. also, i dont know if you saw it, but some show on the discovery channel compared these 2 cars. the corvette won 3-2...in its own country, whole thing set up by americans. it was pretty much staged, the track (i think willow springs), its an american track, with lots of straights.

either way, corvettes are over rated and id rather have a ferrari.

if u want to get in to it, id be glad. cuz its a peice of shit, as jeremy clarkson would say, its rubish. and to make a fair comparison, well go with the 599 vs the Z06 if thats alright with you. not cuz ill win, cuz its fair. the F430 was designed to be a cheap and affordable ferrari, they skimped out on stuff...

hey erik74 by the way , if you didn't now a farrari 599 retail's around $450,000 new , a corvette zo6 $70,000 new. so you can give me all this crap about how ferrari handle better but there is a big diffrence in price
  • + 0
flag biker-92 (Nov 17, 2008 at 17:48)
so just spend $7,000 to make it hanld better if you want
  • + 2
flag erik74 (Nov 17, 2008 at 18:07)
a 599 is worth every penny, the engineers are some of the best, the materials they use are top of the line, and theyre handbuilt. corvettes are designed by some idiot, they use ordinary materials, and they roll off the production line.

also, theres a little thing called prestige. (and also, supply and demand). people look at you differently when you drive a ferrari, a corvette, some think your "cool", but really, your just a show off.

and supply and demand, theres not that many ferrari's around, and a lot of people want them. on the other hand, corvettes are plentiful, and not as in high of a demand. just to stress that fact, i live in a town of 1800. the local chev dealer has a corvette. why the hell would they have one? cuz they can. no ferrari's around, there arent enough made.
  • + 1
flag biker-92 (Nov 17, 2008 at 18:19)
alot of people do want ferrari's but it's a little somthing called reality, most people inculding me don't have enough money, so "some people" take out loan's that they can't pay, the result of that is today's economy

flag erik74 (Nov 17, 2008 at 18:24)
thats when u buy a bmw, practicle, sporty, luxurious VS. unpracticle, and not luxurious (i do have to admit, corvettes are "sporty")

if your strectching your money just to have a corvette, thats pointless, they cant do that much in terms of reality, where people need a reliable car, that actually has room for groceries, the kids, etc.

  • + 1
flag erik74 (Nov 17, 2008 at 18:31)
bmw's are sports car's depending on the model you get. and you said the word reality, in reality, you dont have 70,000 to dump on a car just to drive around in. you spend that on on things you need, a car that can do every day things. if you want to go back to why ferrari's are better, be my guest, but in realitly, no one has the money to buy a corvette, le alone a ferrari. i just mentioned the bmw if you have a few bucks but need a realistic car

corvettes have a push rod 7.0L and 500 horsepower mind you the power band its inconsistent. The corvette is suppose to be a "muscle" car so it has leave springs in the back that are solid as hell, so it will spin, but whoops now it can't make a corner and chevy forgot how to make rear ends so they used "C" clips. This means it you somhow take a corner, the inside wheel will come out with the axle, great design. Same with the gear box, sifts so hard two hands need to be used. anyway i don't know how this ... thing ... got compared to a F430 but anyhow personal i'm not a fan of either but the F430 would be the better car. The DOHC (double over head cam) 4.3L V8 is pumping out 483 horsepower , 27 horse power less then the corvette hardly noticeable. Put a K&N air filter on your F430 and you'd be making about the same as the gas happy 7.0L-8 miles a gallon. and the F430 has a useable rear end and gear box. It has Coil springs all round great cornering at higher speeds and it can get there faster than a corvette. While the corvette is behind the F430 spining the F430 with a thing called "traction" its about the lap the corvette. A bit of this is because a corvette has a huge 7.0L weighing the front down, and the F430 has a rear mount 4.3L. Bottom line is that the corvette is a sad excuse for a car. The F430 is a good car for what is made for. Turly this is not a good comparison, muscle car vs europian sports car made for speed and corners but it is definitely a much better car than a corvette.
  • + 0
flag erik74 (Nov 16, 2008 at 9:55)
u dont even need the K&N air filter, -6 lbs is equivalent to adding 1 horsepower. the F430 being approximately 120 lbs lighter, means that theres actually 20 "hidden", if you will, horsepower.

but good job! thanks for backing me up!

ok buddy i might not now a whole lot about what your saying but a ferari f430 retails about 150,000 if any thing, a corvette retails around 50,000 and has more horse power and you say you would rather spend 100,000 more just for handling?
[Reply]

flag rebuitwlverine (Nov 17, 2008 at 17:40)
Why would you even buy a F430? unless you just have money to burn, but why waste 50,000 on a corvette ? both are not good options.
