Yeah, but to get that rock in focus aswell would have needed a higher aperature, which would have needed a slower shutter speed which would have meant the rider would have been extremely blured... then you would be complaining that the rider was just a black streak on the pic.

As a visual effect on my screen or on paper or what the pic is transfered to, it's grain (or a better term which I dont know). The pic is a representation of rain - rain which fell on that day and all the particular raindrops which were caught by the exposure, but what I'm looking at is not rain, merely a texture, a pattern which the camera produced under the given conditions - believe me, my computer screen is dry! (that was only half serious)
