thats soooo ridiculously unlikely, its no even funny, theyve done this on a smaller scale many times with no consequence
not really, trust me, if it was a serious concern that it may suck the world in, do you really think the test would still be conducted?
The protons will each have an energy of 7 TeV, giving a total collision energy of 14 TeV. At this energy the protons have a gamma factor of about 7,500 and move at about 99.999999% of light speed. It will take less than 90 microseconds for a proton to travel once around the main ring (a speed of about 11,000 revolutions per second). Rather than continuous beams, the protons will be bunched together, into 2,808 bunches, so that interactions between the two beams will take place at discrete intervals never shorter than 25 ns apart. When the collider is first commissioned, it will be operated with fewer bunches, to give a bunch crossing interval of 75 ns. The number of bunches will later be increased to give a final bunch crossing interval of 25 ns.

ok i dont know about you guys but that sounds like a terribly bad idea if at all possible. I dont want the world to end because we f**ked ourselves. or do i? 
its gonna collide two protons against each other a 99.9999999% of the speed of light to see what happens, they think they'll find the higgs particle or "god" particle, that makes up most of the mass of the universe...and of course, theres the small chance it will create a black hole that eats the earth.
BUT!!! i assure you, the chance of it creating a black hole is infinately small, and even if it did, it would be a tiny black hole that would last no longer than a trillionth of a second, if that.
The shear amount they have put into the LHC is astounding. It's a ring with a diameter of 27km 100m below the French and Swiss Alps. Simply the largest particle accelerator ever devised by man kind. Their aim is to reproduce conditions produced phentoseconds after the Big Bang. Whatever happens, it will be spectacular

Sooooo, what are they even going to do with the higgs particle when they find it if it even becomes, this is such a usless test with an outcome that won't even be usable.
it supports theorys thats will then become fact. not to mention it will further our knowledge of existance and jump us ahead in the realms of mathematics and science.. look into quantum physics and mechanics.

You all realise that even if it does create a black hole theyve calculated it to take about 4 years to eat the entire earth.

Yes you're right, i misread that sorry. Altough some writters(Michael Drosnin) think that there's a certain connection of 2012 with the bible like an asteroid colliding with earth. But i don't care anymore, we were suppose to die in 2000 and we are still here.

This is really interesting... 
Now if it does somehow create a massive black hole that consumes the world, we will be forever know as the people who got killed by their curiosity of how everything got started. So is this device trying to recreate the big bang? Or what are they trying to figure out?

i was just thinking that what if there wasnt a heaven? and like we just died.. then waht would happen to us. nothing. what if the world ended from a black hole .... that typa shit gives me a headache

Actually...a Black hole isn't a hole at all...it's a collective supermass. The denser it gets, the smaller it gets. So it's actually the OPPOSITE of a hole...
To everyone who said the world is going to end, you fail.
They said that it will take them about a decade(10 years to those who don't know that) to actually analyze the data and understand what actually went down. But their were incidents where young teens had heard rumors of the collider possibly ending the world and commiting suicide. There was an article on google yesterday that told you info about the collider as well as related stories involving anything around it.

if it does create a black hole and it takes four years to suck in the earth...ill have plenty of time slowly kill the people who created it.
right i have done some research and there is a 6%that a black hole is created but then dissipate because there is not enough gravity on earth to sustain it a 1% chance that a sustain black hole maybe created and a 93% chance that it does nothing and it was a waist of £6.6billion
They tested it. It worked. If they find the higgs particle, that will tell so much about the universe. It my even lead to what made the universe. and it is vurtuly impossible to create a black hole. you need to have two rings of anti- madder, which is going backwords through tim, and cross those two rings, which again is impossible. but I have no clue whats going to happen in 2012. But I am scared because the miians predicted everything for 5ooo years. every full moon, sunset, and eclipse. they must know somthings going to happen in 2012.
