looks nicer than a hammerschmidt(but i stil ordered one). triebwerk - means engine.
when the hammerschmidt dies, i´ll order a triebwerk. so i hope i can go uphill on my fr bike without pedalling. lol

Doesn't look too well designed with that one clamp bolt hole drilled too close to the outside wall!

it's a ''PROTOTYPE WITH ROUGH EDGES'' it means it's not ready for production

Hey dumbass, the pic description does not say PROTOTYPE, and that was the only thing to go by when I commented, as the article was not written yet, and everyone was talking of how these guys were out long before the HammerSchmidt! How the f*ck then was I supposed to know it was PROTOTYPE?

GO f*ck OFF!

It is exactly where the crank bolt would be otherwise, with the black and white swirls on it!

I dunno about pushing a button with your heel. As soon as the trail gets bumpy, I bet you'd miss-shift ALL the time. I know my foot moves around a little bit when i ride, and given that my cranks are all shiny, I'd be bumping that all the time.

Good idea for commuting, but for anything off road, I'll take the weight penalty of a bar mounted shifter.

I've had 3 hours on a Schlumpf Speed Drive. You don't have to move your feet much. Once you get used to it, you won't shift when you don't want to, and you will shift when you want to. And like the Hammerschmidt (the real copycat here) you won't drop a chain or have front derailler woes. When the Tirebwerk comes out, I'm getting one for sure. The minimum ring size on the Speed Drive is 27T which is not small enough for the super steep hills I climb. If it was smaller, I'd have one already. They rock.

not out till summer 2009 they say, still will have to wait as want one for my transition double as cant fit a front mech and hammerschmidt chain line will hit on my 3" tyres as its on the grany ring chainline whereas the triebwerk is on the middle ring chainline...
