See, I had a SX and that was a ripper. It is an all-round bike, good for anything.. but damn it could tackle dh as good as the DH machines. It ain't as good as my solid mission 9, no... But i think with some clever ideas from Specialized, and some tweaks and tuning to the old frame. they could make the 08' SX alot more appropriate for DH. Beef up the tubing make it stronger and make the shock linkage a little bit more responsive and work plusher as like a DH bike. I think that would be specialized machine.
I think the Demo is abit heavy and not the prettiest but hey It's my input and opinion. What do you guys think?
I've got the 08 copper Demo in a medium and I'm in love with it. It came out of the box just under 43 lbs. My small 07 Scott High Octane weighed in at 42.55 with much lighter parts on it. I'll agree that the rear end looks a bit overdone, but it doesn't feel that way when you ride it. The wheelbase turned out to be about 2/3" longer than advertised, so I have to turn the front wheel to get it in the back of my Toyota, but once I get it on the trail, I'm not mad at all. It rides like a dream and jumps really well too.
k Marksi is full of it
sx trails are the best bike ever no need to beef up the tubing its fine i huck way bigger than my friends and they have there big 45 pound down hill bikes sx trails should be built with the same dynamics of the lite strong frame that godd for any thing
he does have a point but i think specailized should be making the lightest and strongest bikes possible and keep the sx trail the same weight or even lighter
Lol. I agreethe only problem i had with mine was the Chainstay (I snapped) but I think thats cause one side was lower and stuff... for chainrings? They should make them same for a single chainring and device. that might eliminate that weakness. that's how i meant beef it up.
but if the shock linkage was a little more responsive and plusher it'd just kick ass!
ha ha maybe, but the sunday is a good bike, trend or not. I have one and I won't be changing it any time soon, no matter where hill goes. I will say that the only thing that has tempted me away is the session 88 out of sheer prettiness. I know the demos are good but I still like a bike that looks lean
man Specialized are gonna get even bigger than they already are with Sam Hill riding for em next year. they are a lucky company to have him on the team. i'm shure sam will bring it in for specialized!
I hate it...I always had so many reasons to argue that DEMO is far from being a good racing bike, and now all I am going to hear is "it is good cuz Sam Hill rides it"... Nevertheless... FINALLY, AFTER A LONG BREAK, SPECIALIZED WILL HAVE A PROPER DOWNHILL BIKE -as a such company they are obliged to have one... good luck specialized!
The demo 8 might be the head and shoulders above the Scott (which is not a racing bike either) but it is still not the racing bike like V10, M6 or Sunday. It still a cool bike, perhaps a better idea for one that takes it easy rather than a complete amateur buying full racing bike with full racing setup...
Oh really? So the only bikes that can be considered race bikes must currently be racing on the world cup circuit? Sounds like you've been drinking too much of the kool-aid.
no... and yes in a way. Only the cooperation with top ten DH guys can lead to creation of a proper race bike. Lack of that cooperation leads to more relaxed designs, Im 99% sure that specialized gravity bikes are what thay are thanks to cooperation with world's best freeriders. And I am talking here mostly about Spec here.
Geometry and suspension design make a bike a race bike, or not. Spec makes it affordable. Norco hasn't had a male WC rider, but they've definitely got a race bike in the Team DH.
yes I do agreein 100% with you regarding suspension design and geometry - that's why the current Demo 8 is not a 100% racer. I know a couple of decent riders racing on DEMOs but none of them bought the bike because of the racing characteristics - they bought them because they are strong and reliable.
Backbox is SRAM's division that make prototype stuff for their riders. Some of the technology makes its way into/onto Production stuff. You can't buy it. You can only earn it.
Not inferior just different, it will have a more supple suspension, for soaking up bumps, but will have less acceleration out of corners, even though the demo pedals well, it isnt a DW
"Did you ever saw a FSR bike hit the podium stage." Yeah, when Greg Minaar was world champ on his Haro (FSR design)...and you WILL many times next season.
I guess the people that gave me negative props don't know that Specialized is based in Morgan Hill. If Sam Hill changes his name to Morgan, he will now be Morgan Hill. Do I have to explain everything to you sixteen year olds?
