there are some propane tanks for the restaurant just below the lip at the top of Kicking Horse. Not sure why, but they were being flared as the snow fell. Ryan saw an opportunity and grabbed his camera.

Gas flare...
Burns off any unwanted gas/fluid that comes from the drilling operation. You see them on oil refineries etc
