lol! thats true!
i f*cking hate when cross country guys case all our local jumps and turn em into a dusty pile o' shit. lol seriously
I like to see CrossCountry bikers getting of my way when they see a me going down right on them. I had one guy who run into the bushes LOL

Losers get at Downhill bike!

Some of my friends and i made a jump on a trail primarily used for xc just around a corner on a descent. I'd really like to know how many that has surprised on that jump? Since its almost impossible to go around it.
yeh, andy's intellectually inferior: I throw him a bone, he fetches - it keeps the relationship simple and generally posotive
whats wrong with XC riding....
its another style, and climbing isnt the easiest thing in the world and it takes quite a bit of willpower.
dont get me wrong DH is fun too, but doesnt mean you should bash on guys XC riding.

exactly. i doubt any of the kids on here have actually rode a XC track. its not like downhill were you know every line, piece of dirt, and stump on the course. you have to be smart about picking the right line all the time and its not just riding a flat boring piece of single track. and before you bash me saying i should grow some balls and get a DH bike or whatever immature things your thinking of, i've been downhilling for 2 years.
^^ +1 lol. yeh, i have nothing against xc myself tbh, im sure dh wouldnt be the same without some of the xc innovations, and visa-versa!
who the f*ck cares!!
Either way they are getting on there bike and riding
Whether it's dh or cross country !
Just go out and ride your bike and have fun!
There is no need to bitch about it!
You don't see anyxc riders bitchin at dh riders to go ride dh
So just f*ck off abs keep your mouths shut!!!

I have to say Dh is where my heart is at, but my local setting prevents me from riding it more then once a week or every two weeks. So I ride XC, and I love that too. Sure it's not the same rush and joy for me, but it's just so satisfying to get on a bike, so long as your not a roady
Track bikes are fun, but racing on a road bike is boring as f*ck for me.
meh theres something to be said when you stand on top of that badassmotherfcker of a hill and say hahaha i just owned you. The DH tastes all that much sweeter
its even better when you carry your +45lb dh rig, 2L water bladder, AND all your camera gear on your back past the super-serious walkers with hiking poles
cross country is fairly stupid to me. i have to ride cross country some times, and it sucks. a lot of the time a kajillion other people have ridden on the track so it is flat as glas, with maybe a few technical sections, but they are so insignificant that you dont need to do anything to get through them. also in cross country u have a seat up ur ass, u go slow wen you COULD be going faster (on a DH bike)and you look like a f*ckin f*g wearing tight clothes.
maybe if you actually rode real XC. like on a racing course. just because you don't have a clue what real XC doesn't mean that everyone is a "f*cking f*g wearing tight clothes". Its like someone going down the side of a hill and calling DH stupid and boring.
guys, im not really wanting this turned into a flaming war, please!
It depends what you're perception of xc is, i train for dh racing on my xc bike (stamina, muscular endurance etc), but my idea of it is just being out in the hills pedalling away, enjoying the freedom and beauty of the scottish highlands. its not all about tight clothing and tucking in behind one another pulling your spd's up and down with a seat up your arse. i train on my xc rig with one brake, 2.5" minions and flat pedals wearing baggy jeans round my arse and skate shoes.
Lets cut the steriotypes, but most of all: the flaming. The picture is intended for a bit of fun, not an excuse to start hating on every poor f*cker here on pinkbike.
Peace.

i hav e ridden real xc courses, the only reason i have rode xc is because im on my school team regretfully and we have to do RACES so i do know what a real xc course is like
Oi! Richstman, I used my time writing a mini essay just there, so pay attention! dont make me waste my time
richstmanaliv100 if you rode the right xc tracks.. and rode them fast enough you would see that it is really not that different than dh..
i ride both and i ride xc Dh/fr and the tracks are way different, Dh doesnt have smooth single track, a Dh track has rock gardens a lot more intense then a xc trail, and xc trails dont have jumps/ drops to hit in the middle of the trail. i understand why a lot of people love the discipline, but i have my opinion, and I SAY FUUCK XC. thats my opinion, im entitled to it, neg prop me if u want
ooo, i dont think so. that stab world cup is in a compleatly different league to your standard production kona's.
not to put my foot in my mouth but stabs are ok. stinkys on the other hand are just bikes ready to snap. I just cant trust a bike that has a rep for breaking in half.
im not going to argue against that tbh, but my mate has one so i cant technically agree with you, it just wouldnt be right

Why are there so many XC haters? I thought mountainbikers are one big family! just ride your bike instead of bitching about what riding style is best.
if it makes you feel better, i hav a giant xtc1, all be it with wide bars, diabolus stem, e13 and 2.7 minion dh's
To be honest, I also prefer DH. But why should I hate XC riders, just because their sport, OUR sport. I've never seen a XC rider who was negative about downhilllers.
i think xc riders are ok if they stay on their own trails and dont get in the way just as you are going for a jump
Most of the the top xc racers will smoke any dher in anyway on their hardtails with 80mm forks. Sure they wear tight clothing and the majority of them arent really that good, but their really friendly, fun and partying people. I like them, they're not a stuck-up as a few dhers and djers you get. Besides xc is a great starting platform and it makes ya fit.
PS. I like that guy's hair-do.
PS. I like that guy's hair-do.
i know several xc riders who had no problem with me untill they found out i did dh. then they just hated my guts.
the problem i have is with the local 'trail centre', theres guys wanting to run an uplift service to the top, and open a dh orientated bike shop at the trail hub, but the guy who's head of the local club, and also the man in charge wont let it happen, i quote: 'This was built as an xc trail, It will remain an xc trail, I'm not having you raunchy muddy bastards f*cking it up with your heavy bikes and knobbly tyres. Piss off.'
I hate those kind of people, I'm glad there arent many of them here. Over here everyone respects each other. They let us ride on their tracks and we let them ride on our tracks. Besides, the braking ruts they create gives good training!
I do a little bit of everything
my friends from xc don't want dh and free riders to build trails and ride them in the same place because when ever some hack (or a lawyer) shows up and gets going to fast, crash he sues and the area gets shut down for a will

ok i ride in an yc orietated bike club and we get along well so i am not gonna bitch around and say fu* the xc riders but yeah mos of them are dickheds
I dont dis like the XC riders but when they ride a downhill track on a XC bike they slow u right up and wont move out of the way then they piss me off but otherwise keep riding
It's people like you who have to go because you hate someone who has a bike just like you but does not do exactly the same thing or have different goals from you on a bike. Also a lot of the materials used on mountain bikes have originally come from road cycling, so stop your b*chin
the thing is it's people like you who have absolutly no sence of humor and can't acctually take a joke. Stop being sooo pedantic and stop being suck a dyke.
Any way I was talking about "totally, those f*gs have got to go" this offended me because my dad was originally a road cyclist and I do the odd bit of road cycling. I did not mean to offend anyone and I do have a Sense of humour, I just would like others to bash at XC, road cyclists or anyone into gravity riding so could we all just get along and appreciate the humour of this photograph, which is pretty clever
.
Thanks
Thanks
I dont disagree with you, but id say just ignore it instead of fighting it on this site because your going to be heavily outnumber whether its fair or not (same with me trying to defend my kona)
im whit you on that 1 ,bitchin is for losers ats least they ride a bike thats all that count
i do the 2 of them and like them both for what they are
i do the 2 of them and like them both for what they are
none of you pointed out that the dh dude is walking uphill and the xc dude(more like xc/trail) is about to go downhill
Ok, you know what, since you all give such a damn about what kind of bike you ride I would like to set things straight. Sure to a certain degree some xc riders might not be as technically skilled and the same with road riders but they are probably ten times fitter than the average rider who is technically minded and personally if I have a road bike for speed training and an xc bike for those days where it just doesn't stop raining as well as a bike I do downhill on, Everyone involved in mountain biking will be better at different aspects so can we all just agree it is fun to ride a bike no matter what we don on one.
the only thing that pisses me off with XC riders, is when they are tying to ride up your trail..........

http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/2179076/ thanks man, she's now running with 6-pot Ti's, Intense 909 tyres, brown charge spoon saddle, 5050's, white lounge bars, full xtr, etc
Dude you are pointing and he's looking at you so ny guess is that you were talking, so what excatly were you talking about? (just curious):b
We were actually just told to talk between our selves for an inside shot for some forestry commission leaflets, but this shot looked like we were arguing so I couldnt resist the captions!
Its only the fat asses that can't do XC that hate it.
If you look at Peaty, Gee etc. you will see that they ride xc aswell for training. Why don't we just respect mtb as a whole instead of arguing between disciplines.

Yeh man it is funny like, i just think some guys are taking it too far by saying xc is shite. I'm not purely an xc guy lol. I do dj/street and bmx too so respect to all aspects of biking lol.
xc is only shite when you have 3 rings up front - cz then you get nowhere as your dh skills (ei. hitting ALL the rocks/roots instead of going around them) means the chain never stays on more than a few seconds. do what i do and rock the xc rig with flat pedals, an e.13, 750mm bars, 40mm stem, and 2.5" High rollers!
Nah man. 3 rings have never slowed me down. And i swear by my spds on my xc rig. Well each to their own i guess. What kinda xc do u ride around scotland mate?
usually just my local fire tracks for nature photo's and to feel the wind in my hair
mainly for scoping out trails for the big bike tbh, and i use it as transport if im going building as pedalling the big rig with a mattock and a chainsaw strapped to your back just aint fun
I think my idea of xc is slightly different from the conventional (hence my bike set up - and why I go through so many derailleurs/disks etc
).
Downhill is funner personally, but dont put down the XC guys. I ride XC to stay in shape for DH, they're both good aspects of the sport. Stay on two wheels and thats all that matters
