that's because it's designed for very young kids who just start to experience biking by pushing back with their feet. They develop balance when going down gentle slopes and get used to having only two wheels. As a result, they can skip the stage of side wheels when they grow and get on a bigger bike with a normal drivetrain.

imagine having pegs where that pivit is, and a little 5" disc brake on the rear.. it could be a fun little machine then Razz

to me it looks like the element between the rear stays and the front end of the frame is made of some sort of elastic material, so it would make for a kind of rear suspension

right, actually those are quite beefy for a kids' bike so they probably make the ride even smoother Smile

I know a guy who imports them so I payed approximately $192.00, but internationally the price is about $269.00. The quality of the bikeparts where very good. It came with extra rear suspension and a longer seat post for when she gets bigger Big Grin
It even has a thick rubber band to prevent the head tube from being locked to one side and squeezing small fingers Smile
At the moment she is a bit to small to sit on the seat (lacking a few cm), but she is really starting to get the hang of it!

At the moment we'll have to wait a bit though, it just snowed about a 7 cm to day...
