What's with everyone digitizing their photos? the whole point to a photo is a photo, you take it and it's done. No more editing, it just sucks. I think your not enhancing the photos, your making them uglier. I think pods should just be a straight untouched photo from the average joe. Sorry, but I hate this new trend.
suicidedownhiller i sortov agree with you about the average joe bit, but photos need to inspire people to ride, and most average people on here canny take good photos. i would also like to add that people that edit their photos do so to slightly tweak bits, i hate it when it completely changes the photo, or adds bits in that werent their in the first place.
but i dont really like this photo. not a pod imo

suicide downhiller... nothing pleases you does it? everytime i casually look at the picture of the day your always the tenth or so comment down, bitching about it. lighten up. And if you classify this as a 'disappointment' then you need to grow up just a bit more. It's not the end of the world.
no, i dont. You know why? because this site is for fun. who cares? i just happen to notice you seem to be a hater. sorry
yeah cool pic... thats a realy cool kind of style...he isn't doin' anything special but that is the special in this pic....
i don't know how to descirbe but i think it's a realy cool pod
and i like the colors... his blue shorts and the blue sky... and the rest is yellow except of the little green point of grass... realy cool. nice pic

youll never see a picture in a magazine that isnt edited in some sort of way. there is nothing wrong with pictures being edit, it makes them better. would you rather your girlfriend wear make up or just be plain old mediocre? however i dont like the fact that all these burm shots are getting pod. ive seen lots of pictures in the past few days that are well deserving. oh well im sure they will get their time to shine
this ruined then amazing pod streak, no offence but this is just a guy going around a burm, all the others were sick shit like a guy on a bmx flying over a like 20ft drop, and an epic pic of a woodenburm with the mountians in the back ground... cmon guys....
Great POD. And i think that everyone should just leave the pic how it is not comment about editing i mean it looks good doesn't it... Not POD for nothing!

I dont know why but this one just doesnt say pod to me
Its sorta just a guy cruising a burm
It doesnt make me wanna get out there and pinn some corners
It doesnt have that sort of energy
I think its just "a picture"
Not a picture of the day for me

Well it is pretty crisp, and the rider is in focus while the background and stuff is going out of focus. To me, that makes a very good photo, and the editing makes it look late in the day, like the last run of the day.
I'm with you on that iamtoad...
The riding looks good & pinned to me, also don't have a prob with the edit, but the composition of the shot is where I think it's loosing it. Rider is too central (does sometimes work, but not in this case) & it's just full of clutter & not carefully done. I don't mind a bit of sky, but with the lines in it it's not adding to the shot, actually takes my attention away from the rider. He's about to move into the right of the pic, so think it needs more space on that side & can loose a bit on the left to get the dark tracks in the back out & focus more on the right where the rider is going & not just compose centrally without thinking about the shot. Looks like there is another berm on the inside, so would be good to use those lines to add to the shot.
Anyway, is an ok shot, but not POD standards by any means to me. If the trick was sensational you can get away with a composition like this, but I think for a berm shot to make POD it should be something really special & carefully composed.

Great picture although I'm not sure about the crop format. Think it would have look better in landscape with both inside and outside lines visible.
I love pics of berms being railed where the rider is almost horizontal, must have been carrying some speed into that corner. Loving the colours too, props to the rider and photographer!

i dont really like it...
neg props me if you want though....
the colors on the person are great but the back ground is big and distracting...

Why is it that every second pod is of a mountain biker going around a burm, people need the start taking pictures of things that actually take skill.
TO EVERYONE BITCHING ABOUT PHOTO EDITING: THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A "PURE" PHOTO WITHOUT EDITING. Even in the darkroom, you "edit" a photo in that the exposition time, development time, etc. can all be manipulated. While digital photography does afford a certain amount of control that film cannot touch, "editing" is not something you can choose to either do or not do, it is just the degree to which it is done.

To the people complaining about editing photo's.
There are no rules in photo's, it's to what the photographer see's in his or her minds eye. They make the photo into whatever pleases them, not you. Have a problem with that then perhaps you should go out and purchase your own DSLR. After that, try and tweak the settings on your camera so your photo will turn out like you see it in your mind. It's not as easy as everyone thinks.
Nice photo, very calming effect yet you know there's something going on. A unique mix of emotions stirred. Good job photographer.

there are rules for photo's/processing, just depends what you want to do with them & where you want to enter them. If it's just for you, then I say go ahead, but if you want to enter competitions with your work there are def rules
wow this site cracks me up, haha you guys just go out and ride ur bikes haha its night right now ware im at!
