ps... the linkage gouges the frame every time you compress it.. maybe they changed that but it always happend to the 08's

flag bigmoney (Jan 5, 2009 at 17:13)
what do you mean?

flag taylorsmith (Jan 5, 2009 at 18:57)
gouges on the chain stays.. see that black linkage attached to the seat stay and the chain stays... when the rear shock compresses it gouges at it since theres a bit of play to it when your cornering or landing sideways. i have a bunch of friends with these gouges

yah are you joking kid....how does this look like a demo? (that would be the comparable bike model)

flag vppbikedeefer (Mar 5, 2009 at 17:23)
What? look at the front triangle! The swooping tubes started with the demo, then Kona, and Norco followed and now Rocky

flag kakah (Jan 1, 2009 at 15:07)
The final weight is "a lot". I have complete bike weight from my own scale, as well as a frame only number because I just had to strip it down to see. You'll find exactly how much soon enough in the preview article.

flag Borgschulze (Jan 5, 2009 at 6:34)
That's ridiculous... my Banshee Scream is 47.8 lbs and it's got Mag30's 2.6" Gazzaloddi's, Shiver DC... you're telling me this frame is around the 13.5 lb mark? At least it's gonna be strong at that weight.

When those come in bikes, lets say their bitch's to carry around.
I will most probably be riding one too, as i can get it for dirt cheap from my shop, but im digging the feel and geo of them too.
Shouldn't be hard to shave weight, fork's gotta go, wheels, seat/seat post, tires.
  • + 0
flag gustofwind (Jan 5, 2009 at 7:35)
im changing the fork to a boxxer, azonic wheels, chromag bar, straitline pedals with ti axels, ti bolt kit, sdg seat/post combo, maxxis minion 2.5F front and rear. and im talking to the rocky rep about rawing the frame w/o voiding warrenty.

flag s-r-o (Jan 6, 2009 at 15:51)
regardless of what bike he rides, i have to agree that this rm looks abit tacky!
is the credit crunch biting rm designers too?
  • - 1
flag bikeridingaled (Jan 8, 2009 at 9:39)
don't get me wrong the old rockies i love, the RM7/9/X's were damn cool looking machines, but this ones is all fat and curvy and bent, it's like they've moved from a good looking design to a childs design who can't keep a straigh hand. i've no doubt they've improved geometry etc as the design has evolved, and from a riding point of view it is bound to have built on the strengths of the past models, but from a looks point of view it's not nice.
and i never claimed my kona's to be the best looking bike either, i know they're not. but at least they have one or two straight lines and don't look like they've been ridden head on into a tree and bent.

flag bigmoney (Mar 4, 2009 at 20:49)
the forks through off the whole design of the bike....throw some totems on that bitch
