that place is soo sick
that looks super sweet and well constructed-if anything like that was built over here some bloody chavs would move in after two weeks graffiti everywhere and leave broken glass everywhere =D
Not that they'd ever let anything like that happen in britian. Too scared that someone will fall off and sue them.
Crap isn't it? There are so few places like this in Britain. If the chavs don't tear is down, the local council sure will. Like Sam said, the owners of the land are too damn scared someone will sue their ass. Its health and safety gone mad...
Some guy fell off on some local trails up near me and got paralized. The trails weren't even open and had signs up. Now they guy is sueing the Forestry Comission for £3million. And i've heard rumours that if he wins the case the Forestry Comission may not want anything to do with mountain biking trails.
I'm honestly surprised that the state and the city of seattle allowed us to build all that we did down there, but the EMBA/BBTC crew did a great job of drawing up all the plans and making sure that everything was on the up and up. this place turned out really well thanks to the efforts of all the volunteers, especially johan and crew in the home stretch!
while EMBA was at risk while it was being constructed of being sued if anyone got hurt, it is now considered a city sanctioned park. while no city workers would be able to sustain the park, the city now takes responsibility if someone gets hurt and feels like they're owed money because of it.
if someone gets hurt riding there and decides to sue, they deserve to be beaten until they change their mind... plain and simple
mostly because crappy riders like to bitch that they can't do any of the stuff, haha. pretty much though
most likely, it is also easier for all people to learn skills on jumps that are tables... in reality the lip and landing of a table can be built much like a double, so they might as well just fill the in-between with dirt to make it safer
