Sterling, A. Can you not read? and B. why on earth argue over a f*cking picture of a truck. and to rmxnorthstar, yes, global warming has never looked so good
K ITS A DODGE end of discussion that grill came off of a sterling and onto the one you see in front of you.

thats when what happens? o the black smoke its because he has alot of power in it and it cannot burn up the fuel fast enough. and he was trying to make it do that.and believe me it is really fast.
actually, the black smoke is from there being falty seal and compresion rings on the piston head at it lets the oil in and the oil burns. so in other words the truck is broken lol
it could be the rings but most likely it is a result of incomplete combustion. all diesels do it if you romp on them hard enough. its friggin sweet to see. maaan f*ck the atmosphere
yes i have, and i also talk to mechanics and i know a guy that owns an auto shop. and that black smoke is not good
obviously your mechanic friend needs to get his head out of his ass. black smoke is made by all diesels it is simply fuel that did not burn in the combustion chamber.
Drive down to your precious ford dealer and start up a brand new 2009 Super Duty with the 6.4L PowerJoke Diesel motor and guess what comes out of the tail pipe.

Loving the truck by the way, is it a sterling truck with a dodge box bolted on or a dodge truck with a sterling grill? what have you done under the hood?
nnoorrcoo- Learn your shit before speaking man, All diesels do it, even a volkswagon beetle will. Now on a gasoline enigine, if the seals are no good it may have black ehaust from the burning oil, but definately not that much haha

The reason diesel smokes like that is because it basically slightly refined oil thats high enough in carbon compared to regular gas to burn dark.
the truck is dodge and the drille is sterling and heres how i see it.... you get a new truck thats stock and have no chips on it it will not smoke( a good truck for nnoorrcoo lol) you put chips and upgrades on it and she smokes and has alot of power.
my duramax has never blown a puff of black...yet, but once i get a bullydog im gonna smog out all the gay convertables around here, oya and if any of the ECOwhiners got a problem with us tuning our deisels, why don't you pull your heads out of your butts and google the Audi R10TDI and educate yourselves on the finer points of high power diesels, they use a special filter behind the catalytic converters to eliminate a lot of the smog from the exhaust, making for a cleaner burning more fuel efficient QUIETER race car that any regualar fuel burners could dream of, there i said it all and it felt good
oya does your bother work for sterling crane or is that just a sterling motor company badge that he slapped on the grill
nnorrcoo, burning oil would produce smoke - that's soot from diesel pyrolysis. Because diesel is combusted with high pressure and high heat some of it chars. Many trucks have afterburners which burn up the soot. High compression ethanol can have similar results. Ron Paul.
more than a few grand, a set of twin turbos would run you at least 5Gs, then add on common rail injectors, chip, intake, water/meth injection and maybe nitrous and your in at least 10Gs and you would need lots more than that to get it down to the 10s or even 11s. there are very few trucks out there that run 10's on the 1/4 and the majority of them arent daily drivers.
$15,000 is a only few grand when it comes to pumping up these trucks. I have heard of guys blowing over $25,000 without a blink. And there are quite a few daily drivers that are in the low 11's, so 10 wouldn't be unusual.
when you said a few grand i thought you literally meant a few as in 3-5 thousand. not a few grand in a diesel heads perspective.
My friends dads truck used to run mid 11s. it was a daily driver and then he blew up the motor. he bought it from BD diesel, it was there race truck but then put all there parts on a brand new motor and put in the truck and then sold it and thats when he bought it.

my guess would be an electric ford ranger so he doesnt hurt the enviroment.
even though diesel smoke is clean

i understand having a massive pick up in alberta, and place's where you guys actually get dece amounts of snow, but this is the most useless car in toronto, unless you do landscaping.
