It belongs to a guy who rides for GT and DT Swiss. He's running a 240 SS rear hub on XRC 1250 carbon rims with a 5-speed transmission.

I don't think it's a production GT frame. Probably the closest thing you can get to it is the older Lopes 55 frame.

put a new crank bros headset and ditch the DX pedals, they are heavy at like 520g

I would also put a SRAM Red derailleur, 10-speed hollow-pin chain, and SRAM 10-speed DoubleTap flat bar shifter to save a bit of weight. Definetly change the pedals, go for some Wellgos or something, their magnesium ones are less than 400 grams.

I expect that he runs clips when racing.

Probably XTR M970 or Crank Bros Egg Beater 4Ti...something ridiculous.

i think the the flat bar shifter is a bit mutch, and also for 4x you usually dont need nore then 5 gears or so. I believe that the tioga spider pedals are like 270g a pair

I wasn't suggesting that he run 10-speed, the flat-bar Double Tap shifter is required in order to shift the Red derailleur, as the leverage ratio is different from that of the X.0 shifter/derailleur. Also a 10-speed chain is narrower than a 9-speed one, and therefore lighter.

Hideously unpractical, I wouldn't trust that bike for anything.

The guy who rides it is ridiculously smooth, so he can afford to run spindly parts like carbon rims and carbon cranks.
