How the hell did you manage to get the drivetrain working on the left side? I mean, the derailleur... do they make some for left sided drivetrain?

oh i didnt realise that it showed that way on the photo! haha i reversed the pic on my computer and forgot to put it back the right way...you can see that the writing on the sticker is backwards too. nah its just standard RHS drive.

i just noticed that those tires look huge, which is a goood thing in my opinion. i think its the small cromo tubes that deeceives the eyes with the tires, another reason why cromo is sick. and again nice bike ive been waiting for this side view pic.

yeah they do look kinda big dont they...they're only 2.5" tho. they sort of make the bike look quite short too, but its actually a fairly long frame at 1175.

I am so jealous, I wish I had your resources for my builds. I don't even have my own weld yet, all the less do I have access to a CNC machine. The best I can afford is 2d cutting with laser/waterjet. But i shouldn't complain, building stuff with poor resources sure does teach you how to solve problems...

Quite simply: Great build. One can tell you have a lot of experience, the stiff lower swingarm is a clear sign of that. My Downhill frame is a bit to flexy..

wow i was lookin at your hardtail thinkin similar lol Smile
to be honest im comin to the conclusion that CNC in steel simply isnt economical, it takes too long and makes the build too expensive. i sold my last hardtail for nearly 700 and it cost like 700 to make :s So i reckon the laser cutting is the way to go! Smile

indeed CNC in steel isn't quite economical, but to be able to make parts of the linkage out of CNC'd aluminium or steel makes it a hell of a lot easier to get precision and stiffnes. Making such details out of waterjet/lasercut steel plates welded together always gets a bit crooked...

Let me just give you this piece of advice: laser-cutting is almost never a good idea in 4130 cro-mo, I've tried. It is very difficult to get a clean cut in this alloy, maybe due to the relatively high carbon content. Also all the edges get hardened so you can't adjust holes and stuff with HSS drills and tools, it's to hard. Plus that the shell that is formed on the edges is quite annoying to weld in.
So I advice you to use waterjet-cutting, you get a better result and the finished pieces are a lot easier to work with.
