tried to bottom off a curb. i know im not wearing my helmet because my house is on the left. and it was only a curb. and dont say my suspension isnt set up correctly because 1, i dont have compression. 2, i dont have external preload adjustments. 3, i only have rebound. 4, i dont want to open my fork and put more oil in. and 5, i put oil on the stanchions so it slides better

flag krissis (Apr 30, 2009 at 13:10)
i true, if you put a little oil or teflon lube on the sliders its lets it start sliding easier. but yeh, 7. whats the point in spendin all that money on parts if then you dont adjust them to your weight etc. send them off with your weigh height etc an they'll sort it no probs,

has no one realized that this is exactly what should be happening? if the bike is set up for downhill you should be able to bottom it out on flat, add a small ledge and you should be getting harsh bottoms
  • + 1
flag joexspocent92 (Apr 30, 2009 at 18:56)
exactly. the suspension has about 1.5 inches of sag and its perfect for me. marzocchi forks dont oil the stanchions while it slides like fox so they feel sticky as hell if you leave them dry. and when i bought the bike, it showed a table according to your weight and height for each size. apparently they were correct so i have no issues

buddy.. you have a downhill bike, droping a 3 inch curb, and your bottoming out both forks and rear shocks. Please...
Set up the bike properly, k. There is no way that a bike like yours should do that, at least off a curb.

flag b1k3rjp (May 3, 2009 at 3:31)
yeah, but NOT in a 5 inches drop !
if it bottoms in that drop, how can it handle with a 'normal' drop ?
is that hard to understand ?

Well what's downhill for you joexspocent92? Gravel fire roads? Seriously, I'm not trying to bitch but you're going to break your bike with suspension like that. In real downhill course/trails, that would not stand a chance.
  • + 2
flag woodygebhardt (May 11, 2009 at 21:00)

  • + 3
flag woodygebhardt (May 11, 2009 at 22:54)
haha id be happy with gravel roads as well - i was just saying that its pointless to bottom out off a curb and that could put some 'wear and tear' on your shock.
  • + 2
flag Andy-M (May 23, 2009 at 7:34)
Suspension should NOT bottom out off a kerb. If it's bottoming just now then you must be running like 50% sag. For dh the ideal sag is 33%. Anyway I think your forks and shock are air assist, so just put some air in.
