dope POD! congrats for putting RSA on the map again... and again... and again... you should get sponsored by the government for representing RSA

Good pod choice today, a great trick and theres a whole backround to compare the rider to not just a close up image of the rider. the lighting is great and the angle of the camera is also good, over all one of the best POD's in days
thanks
dhrider
thanks
dhrider
Well, I spose it's either that or someone bitching about too many berm shots... always someone to complain, so thanks for being today's.
Thanks man!
There is a bit of grain in the top corners & darker areas from the HDR trying to lighten it too much. The rest is just from jpg compression...

sick shot - love the background, with the way the clouds are, it looks like they are twisting with the rider!
thats one sweet turndown
its sick like dan lacey's turn but not as good
but your getting there keep it up

no.... that is a look back, check yourself.
this is a turndown: http://www.interbmx.nulld.com/img/0704/InterBMX.com.3854.05.224854.jpg

turndowns are supposed to up and down, not sideways.

even though the second photo is labeled incorrectly as a turndown, you should be able to see the difference.

Thanks... then this is a turnback & lookdown, coz he was abt 45 degrees
haha
His back end was def dipped a bit & the fisheye makes it look a bit more level than it is, but I guess this one is between a turndown & a lookback then?
The only way I'm 100% sure of them is on quarters, turndown wheels up & lookback wheels down... on jumps it's kinda tricky, coz there is a "no trick zone" between level & straight up, so what goes on there?

ahhh, yes there is the odd zone... maybe everything in that zone is just a tweak of some sort?
I love the picture, just thought it was labeled incorrectly, after going back through some of my pictures, I can see how that angle does throw things off a bit.

I just looked for a lookback vid too & they only show them on quarters & most of the guys there didn't know the diff between the 2 anyway haha aah, all of them are on quarters, cant find any over straight jumps.
Who invented them, I'll send him an e-mail & find out, it's buggin me now haha
As far as I knew, over straight jumps anything other than level is a turndown & lookbacks are level, but if BMXers get confused about it how the hell am I (a fruitbooter) gonna work it all out?!?!
Thanks man glad u like it & thanks for the help, I was completely clueless a few months ago, but am learnin pretty fast.

what am i doing wrong? your colors are so vibrant and good. can you give me some advice on some setting i should use?
Um, it will differ slightly from cam to cam, but I normally have my WB on shady to warm the shot up a bit. I do push the colours a bit in post, but not all that much coz it looks really cheap if you push them too far. You could also check in your cam's menu & push the saturation up a notch. Otherwise I just try to get my lighting & exposure right & that helps the most I think.
also shooting in a low ISO will help bring out a better black color with less noise and more vivid shots. also what i like to do for a cool effect is set up a tripod and shoot the frame in HDR and then regular exposure with the rider in it and either use the rider photo in the HDR combination or brush the rider in on another layer.
when i shoot in a low ISO its like its not stilling the picture enough. i want vibrant colors yet fast speed. i have a nikon D40 (im just a learner pursuing what i love) with the stock 18-55mm lense. so whatever tips i can get would be great. thanks maan.
The best solution then would be to shoot on bright sunny days, or get some flashes.
Also keep your aperture as wide as possible, will give a shallow dept of field, so make sure ur focus is in the right spot, but that will give the fastest speed ur cam will get & unless you have flashes or the sun is nice & bright you might have to push your ISO up to get enough speed to freeze the rider. Try to shoot with the sun as much as possible too so u don't get a silhouette unless you want that.

haha, yeah, I borrowed 2 of Wayne's flashes, so had a 4 flash setup on some of these, was fun to play with
so what about overcast or like darker days?
is it more mandatory to get a flash?
I also want to get a new lense but im suuppperrr low on money, what do you suggest?
i really apriciate the help man, your pictures are great.

The problem then is there is not much light to get a good exposure with enough speed & keeping ur ISO down on 100. Low light you either shoot slow with flash or fast with high ISO. Flash option is WAY better if you can afford it.
Yeah, flash is good to have for action, coz the sun is not at the right spot 99% of the time & I use the flashes as a fill light on sunny days & then in low light you can really have fun & get ur lighting really good & get the rider to pop & play with other techniques & then ur speed doesn't matter so much coz the flash burst freezes the rider.
Ooh man, in photography anything good is really expensive... you pay for quality... & if you get a cheap lens you get a cheap quality, so for lenses I suggest you save a bit & get summin good.
Sweet man, pleasure... hope it's helping & that I make sense.
Peace

DUDE. this has been amazingly helpful. Im basically taking notes. haha
i will definitely take allll of this stuff into consideration, oh an one more thing:
what type of lens do you suggest?
wide angle?

Hahaha Cool!
Yeah, wide angle is cool. If I could have 3 lenses for the action shots I'd have to go for a 10mm fisheye, 24-70mm f2.8 & a 70-200mm f2.8.... they all pretty pricey, but as I said, you pay for quality & a good lens can last for life if you look after it.
