I bike with a Brtitish dude, and I sometimes pick up his lingo. So I refer to the fork as the "forks" cause there's two stanchions. Therefore a Fox 40 is Fox 40s to me. Some other people on pinkbike do this too.

Its just a manner of speaking. Sometimes the helmet is the "skid-lid", gloves are "mitts", etc.
