that is a lush pic loving the scenery and the riding!!! POD
Amazing photo! No doubt it will be pod.
Wish the stones on the left wherent so burnt out by the flash though

man, that absolutely nice, the rocky roost and this view of the lake and the hills, good work charles!
Amazing lighting and colors with some fine riding. Perfect choice for POD. Props to the photographer
very cool. another example of fairly good PHOTOSHOPPING! (no shadow, half the right foot's gone, the bright white rooster tail makes no sense, there is no disturbance in the rocks from the front wheel or foot, and the shape of the light on the ground would mean the flash was sitting on the trail, which it obviously isn't.)
still a really neat pic though.
ok, -prop the heck outta me.

WTF! Are you suggesting that he photoshopped the rider into the frame? If so that's the most ridicilous thing I've heard in a while. It would be harder to photoshop the rider in than it would be to actually ride it and take the shot. And the white roost is caused because the flash is just behind them. He probably has photoshopped it by saturating it and adding some contrast or something.
@tjorning. you just won todays a-h-w-s-p-w-i-o-i award (ass hole who says photoshopped when it obviously isn't award)
I thought it was the douche bag who says photoshopped when it obviously isn't and deserves to get kicked in the face award or the dbwhspwioiadtgkitfa?
Sorry its the Douchebag-Who-Yells-Photoshop-When-It-Obviously-Isn't-And-Should-Be-Kicked-In-The-Face" award, better known as the daily DWYPWIOIASBKITF Award.
not photoshopped? the front half of his foot is practically see-through, as is the back wheel. the lighting is wrong in a bunch of ways. the left side of the rider's body is heavily shadowed, but there is no shadow whatsoever on the ground on that side of the bike. for the flying snow to be so much brighter than everything else there had to be a huge flash right underneath it, which would be completely useless. the rider's leg looks really big in comparison to the front of the bike meaning its pretty far back, which means its also over a foot off the ground, not on the ground where it would be if he were making that turn.
all that said, if charleyboy14 can show off a few more pics of the same trail/turn/rider/day or whatever I'll be convinced.

ok, I looked at the other pics in the album, and I now concede that the composition is real. sorry charleyboy14. there's defintately some weird sh@# going on with the lighting. and a side note: there's no such thing as "obviously NOT photoshopped" from just one photo by itself. anything can be photoshopped.
ok thanks for the apology it does actualy mean some thing as you can see by my latest post i went in a mood

YESSSSSS the award returns!!! & there is such a thing as "obviously NOT photoshopped" you're just the only one too stupid to realise it, coz everyone else has.

im with bunkey slightly on this one, but i would gladly see it pod. and 10/10 for making the trek up.
I'm wi Bunkey and les here the flash screws the pic really distracting, should have been up to the right for a bit of fill to pop the colours, other than that great shot charles
to be honest the first time i seen the pic i didnt notice the flash, but now i do it really does take away from the picture, still great shot though les

sometimes i think the guy who invented the remote flash set up should be shot. nener have I seen a more abused piece of of photog equip than the remote falsh..and for some reason i think more exsamples show up on POD than any other place i can think of....and this shot takes the crown....
we were talking about a photo technique.
Calm down and accept different opinions if you put your shot in a public place like this.

dude looks sooo sick so nice but if u look at his right foot kinda looks photo shopped just me not saying it is super nice!!!
Def photoshopped. Your foot doesn't just dissappear. His right foot fades to nothing, no way this is exactly how it was shot. Its been 'shopped for sure.
that is definately a mint pick not arsed if it photoshopped or not cos you havent took a photo of some one doing a jump and stook them 30ft in the air .. its only his foot for god sake

Yeeeeeeah Charles! Nice one man!
Flash hot spot is a bit of a bummer, but other than that this is a sweet shot man!! Congrats on the POD!

Well done Charles and Liam, i was torn between the two shots from the same location, but yeah boyy!!!!!
I vote photoshop, looks like two different pictures scaled into one, the rider with the rocks and the grassy back drop have two different contrasts, still looks cool and hey maybe the owner isnt hiding the fact that he edited this photo into what it is, but it still a great shot none the less!
thats what pod is about and if you can pull that off with photoshop then its deffinatly worthy of pod

to clear things up, as a photoshop enthusiast.....that is a horrible photoshop. clearly you cant see any spokes in the rims. The rocks flying off into the distance (roostertail) is poor use of the magic wand tool. the path w/ rider looks as if it was simply pasted into the scenery beind it. Also there is no shadow under the bike at all or under his shoe where he nearly has his foot down on the ground. Also look at the rocks in the very bottom left corner, you can see the erase tool marks where they try to portay an edge over the cliff.
so your saying you cant see the spokes? go get a freind to ride his bike past u at few times at a slowish speeds u wont see the spokes all you will see is a blur kinda thing
. and in DH u will go a hell of a lot faster so u wouldnt be able to see his spokes even more.
I think you need glasses, I can see the spokes without any trouble at all.
& to clear things up as a professional photographer, you have no clue what you're talking about frandamat... learn to take a photo before you try to analyse anyone elses. Off camera flashes are pretty common to light action pics & are the reason for the bike not having a shadow. Thanks for proving you're a tool.
Oh & these days babies aren't brought by a stork or birth or any of that nonsense, these days we just use the clone stamp & scale the people down with the move tool to make babies.

here is prob the real version of this pic. as u can see the path doesnt extend out as far and the rooster tail is deff photoshopped

its a diff rider you spaz monkey here is the photoshopped one
I guarentee this is real, as were the other 7 times i hit this corner for charles to get this shot. Unless i am not actually real, then it is fake haha.
this is not photoshopped as i was there. Genuine photo boyos, enough of ur slanderous comments kids!
[Reply]
not gunna lie. its a sick pic but it looks fake. half is right foot is seethrough, and, there is no shadow. also there is snow wayyyyyyyyyyy to far to the right of the pic. almost like his front tire slipped out and kicked up a bunch of stuf. which isnt the case because he is still on the bike. also his leg is like twice the size of his bike hahahahahahaha. if its real, than its an awsome pic. if its fake, than i was wright!!
"than i was wright!!" that doesn't mean anything, kinda like the rest of your statement.
if you were trying to say "then I was right." then I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint you... come to think of it I'm wondering if we're looking at the same pic, where do you see snow in this one?!?

well, its not snow. but thats the closest thing i could think of. its that spray at the bottom left of the pick, right underneath the berm.
that's from a flash in a bad spot too low to the ground & caused a serious hot spot on the berm & roost.
I never understand why ppl that have no clue about photography or photoshop pass comments like this trying to sound like they know what they're talking about...... can't you see that all you do is make an ass of yourself?

What see through foot? The solution for that is that you get glasses coz ur eyes are really shit if you cant see his feet.
the right foot is half seethrough!!!! you can see the rocks clearly behind it. it fades after the heel of the foot and then it becomes seethrough
stop taking drugs, it's affecting your vision!
You're imagining things... stop making a fool of yourself & realise this pic is not fake, edited or altered in any way.

Very nice pic charles and congrats for it geting POD
but for all the people calling it fake "f*ck OFF"
but for all the people calling it fake "f*ck OFF"
i've been thinking about it and it didnt occur to me at first, but i think it looks photoshopped even if it isnt. that could be a compliment or an insult depending on how u take it haha.
but the light on his body looks like its coming from the opposite direction from the light in the sky. maybe theres another light of screen thats making that effect...
im a noob at photos so dont take this to seriously but i just thot id mention that
nonetheless, SICK PHOTO!!!
i think im gonna make it my desktop background

the answer lies in off camera flashes & doesn't look photoshopped, you just don't know what or how it was done & your immediate reaction is photoshop... at least you admit to not knowing much about photography & are not making an ass of yourself like old tjorning up top there. haha

crazy shot!! i love it!
to u and/or the photograph> how did u make up the light down the left? (sorry if you already answer a similar question, didn't read all coms ;-)

Nice picture. Beautiful scenery. However, it just doesn't look right to me. The flash and the natural light oppose each other, instead of working together. It looks forced. Nice colour though.
loooooooooks sooo un-natural. too all you wankers, LOLL WTF DOES THAT MEAN NEWAYS!, is that an insult? lol you douchbag.

Ryt kids for all yous that think that this picture is Shopped, IT IS NOT!!! I am the rider in the other photo charles took in a similar composition; which he desaturated. Link is somewhere above. Therefore, i have a good idea that this is not shopped, as this is exactly as the image was 10 seconds after it was took. I think ur pathetic comments could be seen as a compliment to charles' fantastic photography skills. The slighly clear foot is due to slight motion blurring, as one person thought, there is no snow, that is a remote flash which was placed on the floor which reflected harshly on the flying stones. Looks cool as f*ck if u ask me. as for his leg, its big one because its the closest part of liam to the cam, plus liam is quite a big fella. for all those saying "ooo, thers no stones from his front wheel, did u ever consider that its either gripping and rolling, or maybe just hovering over the stones in this fraction of a second. All of u 14 year old clearly jealous people, please shut up, cos the whole accusation of shopping is rather pathetic and petty.
Ya, it's amazing what you can do with a couple of remote flashes. This picture is almost definitely not photoshopped, it would take insane skills to be able to get the rocks flying and have the lighting exactly the same in both pictures. Also, if you look closely, you can even see the cliff through the spokes in his wheel, which would be nearly impossible to photoshop, especially when you can see the spokes. If this picture was photoshopped, it would still deserve POD for the amazing photoshop skills.
Epic picture, definitely POD worthy!

I'm finding these arguments rather funny. In terms of the picture though...the flash work makes it look fake; because to the untrained eye, the unnatural shadows make it look like a cut and paste job. If you reduced the brightness of the flashes, it would blend much better and make it look natural instead of fake.
of course, if you did that, the picture wouldn't look as sweet because the rider would be less defined.
You can still make the rider "pop" out without causing shadows that play with your eyes. Perhaps different flash placement. Excellent flash work doesn't look like flash work. It blends in. That would make the photo even more sweet.
It was done fool, theres no telling some people, i guess you know better though even though i was there doing the shoot and you were not. The fact is it is real your uneducated opinion is that it is fake. FACT!!!!
Who you trying to kid Little Liam, that pic is blatantly fake, i don't know how you have the nerve to post it on here and claim it to be real, have you faked it so people think your cool ?
It hasn't worked, you look like a tw*t, also your van is sh*t !!

Again..if it's not PS'd then please give us the strobist information...how many flashes, where they were placed and approx. power.
Where were the flashes located???
