Sweet build, dont see an M-Pire build like that everyday. Curious why you opted for that frame for that type of build?

flag brentjj (Jun 11, 2009 at 19:40)
Opted? Like chose? I'm racing O-cup so it suits pretty good. Adjustable travel in the rear from 6 - 8.75 inches and the fork is at 160mm. I have it set at 6 inches now so it has some good geo with that fork. And I have the build pretty light too, around 40 pounds. Not bad for a 12 pound frame without a shock. I'm going down to the shop tomorrow to get a for sure weight.

i like it. needs some stickers or something on the frame though. looks kind of plain with just the white.

holy crap really? what wheels you got on there?

flag brentjj (Jun 11, 2009 at 19:57)
Syncros DSP. The frame alone weighs 12 pounds so I'm happy with the weight.

oh wow, haha
maybe putting on a big fork and using all potential wouldnt be a bad idea then?

for sure this m-pire looks nice but in my opinion the fork is to short for this frame , can“t belive that the geo fits!
if you ride such an nicolai->weight is not the most importent

Nice man! But you need a bigger fork. The frame was intended for 180>200mm of travel

flag brentjj (Jun 12, 2009 at 8:32)
It has adjustable travel and adjustable geo so i think the fork is fine. It feels good any ways.

Crazyness...i wish I knew how that linkage worked....

flag brentjj (Jun 12, 2009 at 8:31)
It looks confusing but it works great. I find it has just a bit more padal bob then my Giant with the Maestro. It's like a single pivot that pulls on 4 bars, the 4 bars pull an arm and the arm moves the shock.

flag crazygeorge (Jun 12, 2009 at 8:43)
So the wheel path ends up single pivot, but the shock stroke is controlled like a 4 bar?

flag brentjj (Jun 12, 2009 at 9:12)
Exactly, not like the Marin 4 bar though. More like the Knolly bar system.

How much was it? I've always wanted a nicolai.
  • + 1
flag brentjj (Jul 23, 2009 at 18:48)
I pent $1000 on the frame then probally $3000 in specs. Not bad for the bike that it is, but I still need a bigger fork.

flag Antron (Jul 24, 2009 at 1:35)
Only $1000?! Was it used? That's a good deal, I want one of their gearbox bikes.

flag brentjj (Jul 24, 2009 at 8:38)
Yea. The frame is used. I just gave it a new paint job. And last time I looked there was a gearbox bike on here for sale. Razz
