I'm confused - it looks like you have 5 gears back there, but that those 5 gears take up the full width of the freewheel... what am I missing?

You're missing absolutely nothing! Industry nine's singlespeed wheelset actually is more like a half-nine-speed wheelset, as are most ss hubs. It's meant to give you room to adjust your chainline, but it actually has enough room to run 5 nine-speed cogs on. If you run the z-limit screw on the derailleur all the way out and use a good ss spacer kit, you can make the lowest gear as large as 14 and the highest as large as 20!---I just had no use for the full 9 and this is a more stable setup for a wheel that will be hitting gate session after session.
