Very nice indeed. Don't you kill all your work on the BB pivot by running gears?Smile

yeah i guess...but hey you gotta put the pivot somewhere and its not really that much harder puttin it on the BB than anywhgere else once you work out how to do it!

Correct me if I am wrong but the pivot point at the bottom bracket is actually the most perfect design for eliminating chain growth because the distance between the BB and rear end never changes? ...so if you were going to run gears on a DJ/ slopestyle bike w/ rear suspension that would actually the best way to go right ? Amazing work !

in terms of efficiency, the position is not the best cause the chain force causes the suspension to squat under pedaling. but iv set up the falling rate so it wont be active under small forces like pedalling, it only reacts to big hits like landings and square edged bumps even with about 60psi in the shock (i weigh 65kg). so not good for a fully active XC bike, but brilliant for a bike that needs to usually feel like a hardtail.

wow. would you be able to do one with butted tubing?

flag madm3chanic (Aug 16, 2009 at 20:20)
yeah but i recon youd wanna keep the DT and chainstays as straight guage to stop dents. with a butted TT and seatstays i reckon it could get down to around 5lbs. in the scheme of things tho when yr lookin at a 30ish lb build, 1lb reduction is only 1/30th of the overall weight, youd be better off savin weight in the cranks and forks an crap.
