And so far Yeti finds pretty a lot of buyers, even if prices go bananas. In this particular design the rail makes the link able to rotate, therefore push the shock. Otherwise this single pivot swingarm wouldn't swing aaay? If someone wants to buy it we are not going to shot him/her, are we?

the point of the rail is to have a liniar shock rate so every one can tune how the shock ramps them selfs
