Daaneel, that's a lame comment. I bet almost every wheel would do that, doing a 6ft drop with 30mph, landing with your frontwheel sideways..? Come on, that doesn't say anything about DT.
do you have an idea how fast this guy was going... man he dident even have time to take his fingers off the brake, and lost his glove too in the making, poor dude.
Well folks,.... you've witnessed an epic battle between Man and Machine, ....ending suddenly in a "TKO"! ( "Taco Knock Out" :-)
The strange part for me is the feeling of "déjà vu" to me. Back in 1987 I bought my first serious MTB (to me at least),...a Red Schwinn Cimarron. With rear rack and small set of panniers,...was around $800.00. (a fair chunk of change at that time for me)
It was also the first bike that had such a low gear it was SO easy to wheelie. Unfortunately, I was not well versed in that "procedure" back then,.... especially the "landing" part,..... and on my FIRST ride out on the bike,..on the 2nd or 3rd wheelie and feeling invincible on a "New Bike High",....
....... I land with the front wheel WAY sideways,... and go over the Handlebars and hit the parking lot pavement. Ummm,..a very humbling and grumbling experience :-( But I got off lucky with just scrapes and bruises,..some scrapes on the thumb shifter, and kept all my teeth too. More importantly, I learned an important physics lesson.....
Namely, ....."an object in motion (me) tends to stay in motion, with the same direction and speed." Amen :-)
I'm going to be riding this trail in a couple of hours and I'm going to check out this section of the WC course just to get a feel for how fast he had to have been going to do this lol.... honestly we don't realize when watching footage how fast these WC guys are actually going, it's insane... to cause equipment failure like that you have to be killing it.
I was one of the guys in the crowd right behind there, the crash was so brutal, everybody felt it. I saw the bike afterwards, front wheel bent in two and his the arch on his fork snaped and kinked about 2 inches. Sick Picture, but everytime I see it I still get shivers.
Yesterday at Whistler I saw a guy snap the arch of his 2010 boxxer team like a twig in a harmless crash right in front of me. I have the same fork too. Scary.
Guys if you watch the video closely, you will see that his wheel slightly tacos BEFORE the take off. It got caught inbetween a couple rocks which bent it before the take off. The rock at the top is what twisted the wheel, the landing just finished it. So in otherwords, the rim was hooped before the drop even occurred ... any rim would have done the same.
Kyles fine, he swung by our warehouse today and showed off his hands and back... not much besides a bruise or two. Picture of him post crash here www.straitline.blogspot.com
The fist thing I thought when I saw this photo was "hmmm, the section of trail looks like I've been there before..." Then I click the link for the video and the first thing I see is it was in Bromont. Makes sense now, There's drops like that everywhere there.
Ouch Kyle! Still committed though! Not grabbing brakes, legs are still tucked in. Happened so fast! Heres a video clip of the crash > www.pinkbike.com/video/91195
i have to admit i was smoken when i hit, found the bike half hour later hundred feet away in some long grass, dont think any wheel would have took it, his didnt seem that crazy though, the way he landed anyway
ahhhh dude its just like he came around the turn and smacked the the rock WHAAAPACK!!! and then he bent his rim like BAAHHHH and after that he just fell down and got pitted, so pitted, lke that.
oh dear barbra... when things fail during a dh run they usually fail in a big way. I like the guy in the hat near the upper right side of the pic his face is priceless... looks like an OH face OH OH OH....
wow it took me a long time to scroll down to leave a comment.
i hope nobody tells me i should have clicked at the bottom of the scroll bar...
sick pic anyway though
The worst part is the dude rolling that guy of the course. I realize there are other riders behind him, but let get the guy some medical attention first. WOW!!!!!
oh good gosh is he ok? btw what wheels are they coz im thinking of purchasing simlilar ones to these but i dont want that to happen do i coz then nobody will be able to look after are oll the schnauzer also it would ruin my faboulous mtb career which iwouldnt want to happen coz i got such a bright future and i want to do so many more racers and meet some great people like steve cheat, gee charerton, sam pill also because i ride a 2001 raleigh hartail and who would look after that i mean cmon i would have to give it to are dom or summet or i could donate it to oxfam or summet well to conclude this i really wouldnt want this to happen really because like i said schnauzer raleigh and me me me
ye people im not wierd i just had to many e numbers in my schnauzer soup along with my greyhound bread and alsation piss for drink
ive got a pic of that same taco time, after i straightend it out a bit to get it on the rack if anyone wants to check it out, laying in bed with some wicked meds right now
Thats what you get for running a DTswiss wheel. I bet the brake rotor holds up better than those wheels.... I agree with above, I hope the poor guys ok.
I dont understand why so many peoples have poor comment or can joke about a crash like that, common the guys is most likely hurt bad, there is nothing to laugh about.
in stead of rolling with wheel try the newe inproved halo hope's today at only £299.99 there only 203mm wheels soo you will get maximum speed lmao that isnt going to go down well on the records and if i was in that situation my arms would have been out fron under me by now and i would have called the paramedics by now surely lol nnice pic POD maybe
