actually the friction is bigger when he is stopped and straight, when he lays down the bike he needs the speed not to fall, but the faster he is, smaller his weight is (you will see that in class soon, if you had not yet). The friction depends on "Friction = Normal[Mass X acceleration](do not know in english)X ยต[friction coefficient]". So the speed makes tha total friction decrease...

The coefficient of friction is a constant...While rolling down the straight away as you increase speed the rubber tire has less time to mold its self or stick to the rough parts of the road...Therefore decreasing the frictional effects of the "grippy" tire. When the bike goes into the corner its radial acceleration increases and the force between the bike and the road increases greatly, this acceleration essentially increases the weight of the bike...This added "weight" causes the frictional forces to increase once again. = mass x accel x coeff. of friction.
