Such a nice bike. How come you choose to single speed it though? Seems of a bit of a waste imo.

Its my DJ rig man. I hardly pedal anyway, I pump. The only time I'd use gears on my bike is if I had an XC, AM, FR or Dh rig.

flag ajrussell (Aug 18, 2009 at 14:02)
Fair enough. Just looks like a bike that could ride a whole lot more than djs and very well. But i guess you gotta spec it to where your gunna be riding it.

sweet bike Moleman, I have gears on my bike, but I've noticed I always use the same gear whenever I ride dh that I use at my local jumps and whenever I ride [a-z] anywhere - so I might as well have single-speed too as I never change gear!

Cheers, I've got gears on now, but I only really need them for getting around to spots. Although there are new things that I have found in which I might need a lower or higher gear for the run up so they are useful. I do have my momments though, where I wan't to go singlespeed again.

Ride better than the riot?
  • + 2
flag moleman (Aug 18, 2009 at 14:11)
Thats a tough question, as the geo feels similar. But the rear sus deffenetly helps with the shock absorbtion and feels amazing to pump and its incredable fast... but I'd have to say yeah it is better then the riot, best frame I've ever had I think. If I had to rate the rides I've had in rank it would go something like this: 1st Rampant; 2nd Riot; 3rd Bottlerocket; 4th Capital. If I got another hardtail I think I'd get another Riot, proberbly my favourite hardtail frame I've ever tried.

The chainstays on that are loaads longer than a riot but thats the sickest full sus dj bike iv ever seen

flag moleman (Aug 21, 2009 at 3:46)
Only an inch longer, the Riots chainstays arn't the shortest around for a hardtail either. And the chainstays on this are only 16.5, pretty short really for a full sus.

Like what? That bike is like amazingly dialled!!
  • + 1
flag moleman (Aug 20, 2009 at 4:35)
I got to sort out the chain tension, because there quite a lot of chain growth on this frame, so it means that the tensioner's arm moves up until it hits the chain stay and it won't give me full travel because of this. I sorted that out by putting a link into the chain, but now its too loose and so skips when I pedal. I'm going to check to see it a can adjust the spring tension on the chain tensioner. If that doesn't work I might try out a Blackspire Stinger guide on the front ring to try and get some tension in the chain.

flag moleman (Aug 20, 2009 at 5:27)
I've sorted that out now, turns out I can adjust the spring tension. Just need to go for a ride to make sure its worked, althought I think I might need more tension.

sweet!! Doesnt the tyre hit the seat when the shock is compressed?
  • + 1
flag moleman (Aug 20, 2009 at 7:48)
It proberbly would have, but I haven't bottomed it yet so luckly it hasn't hit the seat, but since this pic I've moved the seatpost up a bit.

You could let the air out of your shock to check how much clearence you have if you want to be really fussy and see "how you low you can go".
