It's boring to you, because you don't understand the deep meaning in this picture. What this picture says to me is basically what I bike for. I bike for the enjoyment and the experience that it delivers. Look at the landscape, and enjoy the picture, because it represents the true meaning of biking.
Sometimes a POD isn't all about pulling off a massive trick... it can be something as simple and easy going as this one.
HAHAHAHAHA 17 FAVES, WOW. Great PoD... It is a nice change for once, though: I was getting bored of all the no-handers and shit on dirt.
So? POD doesn't necessarily mean skill all the time. It's a picture of rare quality. This makes me significantly more stoked than someone doing some half-second trick on a dirt jump. This one's all about the feeling baby.
at first: BEAUTIFUL!
..reminds me on italy...
well its in canada...nice, too
i love canada, a realy nice picture.
cool POD today

thanks for cleaning up all the negative comments from when the POD changed.I suspect there are a few suspended accounts now.let's keep it supportive of others and be constructive in the comments please.....thanks
Actually, lads. I know it's PICTURE not Trick of the day but, don't get me wrong; this is a riding website and you can't just have someone biking down a trail (no skill involved) if there's so many other contenders worthy of POD. I accept it's a nice picture but, anyone could do that.
Not anyone could produce the composition of that picture. I suggest you appreciate it for what it is, not slam it for what it isn't. If it means so much to you then you need another outlet for your frustration.
no offense but this straight puts me to sleep
oh, and Chillined, the true meaning of biking isn't necessarily the landscape and what not.
I could care less if I was riding past nuclear power plants and garbage as long as it was a fun trail

Nor is it all about the huge lines or tricks. So this picture, you could say, represents one of the things we love about biking
A lot of you guys summed it up very nicely so far in regards to what POD is about. Glad to see a change over the last few weeks towards the positive in the comments.
And Margus, great photo. Do you have it in a high res, say anything over 1280x1024?

alot of you kids are clearly to un educated to appreciate a good quality POD.
you know pinkbike is at an all time low when i was completely expecting this kind of crap from people.
this is a really good picture, and i have a strong appreciation for the style and creativity in this picture.

I disagree bluemountainlover. Photos like this used to get bagged on heavily by people. But lately scenic photos have been making somewhat of a comeback. It's a good thing to see.
chillined, i really dont see whatsoever how this possibly "represents the true meaning of biking". how can a person say that some guy riding with a nice backround behind is the true meaning of biking. with all due respect, that has got to be one of the stupidest things i have ever heard. and i am not saying bad things about this picture, it is very good. im just questioning the strange outlook that this chillined guy has on why people ride bikes.
I was disagreeing that PB is at an all time low....why is it so hard for people to understand comments here?
I can understand why you guys don't understand what I was trying to say. This picture represents biking, in a way. One guy riding a bike, to nowhere. Isn't that what we all do? We ride our bikes because we love the sport, this picture represents the love for the sport, and the landscape is just a bonus.
Oh, breadandmayo, I'll break it down for you. This picture represents biking, because when we bike, we feel that momentary freedom from life, or at least I do. The awesome background and the guy riding by himself, is basically what I got key symbols from. It's just awesome, and we should all keep riding hard. We love biking. All of us do, on PB. It's not a strange outlook to me, because I can think beyond just the plain picture.

thats pretty crazy nice colours but 1 problem c where you are in the boons just tell me theres not 1 jump u can get a pic from like jesses
dont deserve a pod...there's a lot of hardcore ride pictures that can be a pod,but today it's some xc boy who's riding on the grass.colours are reeealy nice, true but we wont some action!!
hey dambak, this is an action shot, the photographer really captured the fact that this guy is climbing a hill, not pedaling a flat spot.
hey were all mountain bikers here. i have alot of respect to freeriders and dhers and u should have respect xcers and any other sports
i agree with dambak, there is nothin exciting about it. freeriderchase, the photographer didn't do a very good job of capturing the fact that the guy is clibing a hill as it looks almost flat.
I rekon there are much better pictures out there, and don't go on about how the lighting is amazing because i know it is good, but there are much better pictures with lighting which is just as good, if not better.

snapshomylol- we're not all mountain bikers. i BMX and i think that this pic shouldnt have gotten POD. no offense
i think it deserves pod to (sorry i left out bmx)i was just telling dambak that theres more to biking then doing jumps or gaps
Guys, if posting comments was on a as needed basis, there wouldn't be any comments period and you wouldn't have your say-so either so stfu!
There are so many juvenile comments on here it gets old so fast. This is a quality photo that fully deserves POD

Nice! Great focus and your LoS even makes the rider look like he's riding more uphill then flat.
Though I'm seeing alot more people vote POD then others who have said "there's no action in it, not worth POD". Its good to see some change.

why did this guy get neg props? its not a very good picture, its only the lighting that is any good. if this picture had poor lighting and was taken with a mobile phone no-one would say anything, but if there was a picture of someone doing a huge flipwhip even if it was poor quality, people would still notice the picture, whereas a picture of a guy climbing a hill wouldn't grab anywhere near as much attention.
Just a man and his bike. Love it. Some of my most memorable rides through the years have been epic XC rides. Seeing this makes me want to be there.
you don't have to be flying down a dh run, or busting a tuck no hander flip to get a highly worthy POD, and this proves it.

good to see a nice xc picture on ocation really makes you fell chill really sets the mood great shot totaly 100% deserves pod

Awesome, I'm a "cross-country boy" now.
Sunset in the Selkirk mountains with an amazing group of riders, it really doesn't get much better. Oh, except that there's a rad descent just around the corner...

that trail is in my back yard XD well.. like 20 clicks from my back yard... but u get the idea! haha, amazing picture, and an absolutly gorgeous trail to boot.
Awesome PIC!!! Too bad he isn't doing any tricks otherwise this would be PERFECT!! But DH is way better than XC
I've been looking back over recent PODs and can honestly say this is my favourite for a long time.... the others get so samey.

PODs don't have to be all about skill it's just a nice picture and for those of you who are too pussy to XC then you obviously won't understand this POD. If it's so shitty guys have your own amazing POD of you guys doing a mediocre trick.
nice to see some revy shots in here! cmon revy riders lets see some more stuff! big stuff on boulder, sweet alpine rock gardens on sale. good work get em up!
It's nice to see a pic once in a while where the guy isn't upside down or dressed like Robocop. Don't get me wrong, I prefer burly street and freeride pics but it's a nice change to see some simple trail riding.
Awesome pic, shows what riding is really all about, one bike one biker, in the middle of nowhere with endless ways to go. An epic ride has lots to do with the landscape around you, i freeride more than xc but its always nice to see a good trail pic of what the sport is all about

wow I haven't seen an XC picture for a long time, sure is great to see all sorts of discipline's of riding making POD. Props to the phototograhper and I suppose props to the rider for getting in that position :S
Well done lads

All those who think this is a boring pic just because it's got no jumps in it... read the description by the poster "...HUge descent awaits his hard work." There are some people who believe in earning their downhills also...! And the picture is sweet... so let's not allow XC to intimidate yourselves just because these chaps can pedal uphill and you can't.
Good old wide angle lens distortion. Oh, and I have the kitchen sink in there re: 1st Aid. Splints, neck brace, saline solution, bottle of beer, etc., etc.

Totally deserves POD because it captures the feeling of riding back to base camp at the end of a long day of epic riding. If you click on the photo, it'll take you to the other photos in the set and you'll appreciate this photo that much more. In fact, for you knocking this XC picture, the set has photos of riders doing some nice, flowy singletrack and light jumping. Just my two cents.
Not every POD needs to be sick moves, huge hucks, or railing sideways through a berm... it's nice to be reminded that we all love an OUTDOOR sport (no offense to Ray) that gets us away from the daily grind and out in the wild stuff. Moments like this are the reason we don't ride road bikes.
