Why? Really, aisde form bikes what uses chains? Take a look at Tractors or inside your own car, even lots of motorcycles. They use belts over chains.

Right length for a bike? That's what adjustable rear drop outs are fpr. IF it were to ever break for some reason, you'd just order another one from Gates or whoeve and slide it on.

ye, but for bmx's the dropouts r tiny. so i dont think it would work for us, but for mtb and road bike its a good idea

actually, belt drives are old news in bmx. i've been hearing about them for years, just don't see too many people actually running them.
