As nlitworld stated above, the new DHS Mono is radically different to the old one. The pictured one at Eurobike isn't the final version either. The final one should be/have: 2lbs lighter 1.5" headtube Built in bump stops Innovative detachable ISCG plate Reverse fitting rear shocks to reduce unsprung mass (new fender also) New QR 12 x 150 axle New bolt on mech hanger Increased tyre clearance Reduced travel from 10.5" to 9.5"
To the eye its the same but put a 2009 model next to the finished 2010 model & they are radically different.
Except for the fact this frame was redesigned with losing 2lbs of frame weight and gaining the ability to easily run an iscg chain guide a 1.5 headtube with integrated fork bump stops and yet another updated version of their Curnutt Air shock. Brent definitely did his homework when redesigning the new frame. Looks really good.
Most Foes bikes are running a 2:1 compression ratio, meaning for every 2 inches of travel, the shock compresses 1 inch. The foes DH bike is 10' travel, meaning a 5 inch stroke shock. There are a lot of benefits to low compression ratios, and I can see it being the way of the future for high-performance bikes.
you can run lower air pressure with the 2:1 system just like on the coil shock version but then with coils. You can run like a 125lbs spring for example + dual spring rate system is genius(atv's and MX bikes using it for decades).
Last year it used a remote reservoir which worked extremely well (feels exactly like coil just more tunable to different setups). Curious to see how this compares.
