Then you'll have raw, and possibly rusting cranks with a crappy paint job. Seems like a win/win.

Think about how fast the stock paint comes off. How long do you think can paint will last?

It's not about being a good painter or not, nor about how high end you go. In the end, it's still canned paint, and in the end, it'll still wear off quickly.
