OOOOHHHHHHHH yes!
not the best, but it was chosen over many others so there is a reason! nice colors in the background tho good offset from the dark ground
its a nice photo with a killer background, but not POD i mean only 14 people have faved it for a reason
14 pepoles faved this, because the pic is new. NIce background but if the ridier is wearing Fullface, googles and jersey this will be sick shot
Why exactly is this POD???
I could find hundreds of other photos that deserve it more than this.
TBH i think this one is really boring.

I could see why it is POD and i mean don't critisize to much because i dont't think u could take a better picture... Ritht?
Dont think this should really be pod at all. its a nice picture, but only really because of the sunset tbh.
just my opinion
just my opinion
i dont agree that it should be POD but it has been chosen over millions of others so it has too be fairly good. also over the past couple of days we have had two awesome pods. so i think that this one had a lot to live up too.
Fisheye.
Some fisheye lenses have such a wide angle that they produce a circular image. It depends on the manufacurer, the angle, and what camera the lens is put on. Some might argue that all fisheye lenses make circular images, and if they don't then they are just super-wide-angle lenses.
That being said, some people might edit a circle for effect. But I will say it is the lens.
As for the picture. Cool colours. Nice flashwork.

To the fisheye critiques, have any one of you thought it may be the cameras lens hood.
or even just an edit.
yea thats definitly fisheye and should not be pod, like yea the coloring is good but its nothing special
http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/4000000/ hell yeah pic# 4,000,000
yeah the circle is from the fisheye. its actualy an "ultra wide angle" so its cheaper than a full fisheye, hence the circle. you can zoom past it but it almost kills the effect completely :/
why don't you zoom in a bit to get rid of the black circle, technically known as vigeration. get a better image then. and looks neater.
Vigeration isn't a word i've ever heard, and a google search of the word came up with nothing. It's vignetting as far as I know. I'm guessing its a screw on adapter, rather than an actual fisheye lens.
hello sorry you're totally right, it was i who was informed wrong about that word. yes, a screw on adapter, ie, lens... :S

it was pretty hard getting the shot and getting a trick at the same time. there were some where I had a completely flat table, there were a few of my friend that were realy whipped out moto style and a few clicked x-ups, but it was either rider was too dark, sun was too glaring or it was a missed shot completely. this was kind of the best of both worlds, could have been much better! I can see why people keep saying why it shouldnt be POD too, shame thats how photography works though :/
no offence, but try getting the perfect shot and still getting a flat table. it took us about 30+ attempts to get this shot, getting the perfect shot and still gettign the flat table was impossible, this was the best we could get with both.

great background but ive seen countless of these types of shots..and there gd dont get me wrong...but ive seen lots more deserving photos than this one.
This photo is POD worthy if you understand the technics behind taking photos at night, with low light it's difficult to obtain a clear image of a fast-moving object even with the aid of a flash. Obviously the photographer did a good job of highlighting the biker and keeping the background in contrast all while using a wide-angle lens.
Very well put.
Photographic technique deserves credit. Not this isn't an anyone-could-do-it picture. At least not without effort and lots of trial and error.
Cheers.

its so good when people understand, thanks very much for understanding
it realy did take quite a few attempts at this shot, I got much flatter tables but the shots werent as good, this was the best we could get!
cheers guys

Just out of curiosity, what equipment do you use and what was the shutter speed of this particular photo? I'm looking to upgrade my camera and this photo inspires me to try to take more images at night.
great to see people inspired by it to go and shoot
freaking sweet
I'l have to ask my friend who took the shot, I'm pretty sure it was a 300 shutter speed
the camera's a pentax something, cost loads though, thats all I know about that much...
super wide angled lens adapter off ebay for 30 odd quid, hot shoe radio controller and reciever with pentax flash. thats all I know... I'l get the man himself to let you know what I got wrong/missed out!

180 shutter speed, 1 remote control flash with an Olympus flash, Pentax k20D, and a semi-fisheye lense adapter.

my favorite pics are the ones that inspire you to get off your ass and ride. this one inspires me to keep looking.
there is one thing leaving a comment to give constructive criticism, it is a another leaving a comment just to be a dick. congratulations.
You've had over 10,000 views and 200 favs. Don't cry just because a single person doesn't like it. What does his opinion matter to you anyways?

yes, not pod worthy! this picture is a easy made photo i guess (well easy enough for me)
but this is bringing the level of POD down, not good! the standards of POD's have somewhat dropped! D:

Good choice of lens for the photo; although the trick isn't amazing, the photography is pretty good. Def POD worthy
cheers man
there were better tricks, flatter tables, moto whips and x-ups but gettign those and a good shot were realy difficult, this was the best we could get realy :/

Can someone explain to me why this shouldn't/can't be a POD? It's an extremely rad picture I can't find a reason why it shouldn't.
I love you
It's because of the trick I think, people want flatter tables or like more of a trick
but thanks for seeing it our way
