I don't know if spikes are necessary on ski hills though cause unless there is ice they will be pointless. And who wants to ride or ski on ice anyways?

nope, its for normal snow as well. Not powder, but snow. You cant really ride on powder too well anyways

I'm actually really excited to try snow riding. I think I'll just get some wet screams and try them out on the snow. If it does suck, I can just use them for muddy whistler days. I heard their grip in the mud isnt even fair
