So apparently every linkage actuated single pivot is a ripoff of a company that didn't even come close to pioneering the design itself? Your logic is astounding, garçon.

Don't you just love fanboys who know jack shit about bikes? Rolleyes

take-off, please Jamis made this way before transition even existed, and I have a parker, and it can out handle the bottle rocket any day of the week, my buddy has a bottle rocket, and can vouche for that statement.

flag 2big4u (Oct 27, 2009 at 19:36)
Yeah... Thats why all the Jamis Parker's chainstays break.. Bottlerockets take the cake over this bike bud.

flag seraph (Oct 28, 2009 at 3:32)
Well the BR may be stronger than the Parker, but the frame weighs almost twice as much.
  • + 1
flag bikerdhill (Oct 28, 2009 at 9:33)
actually bottle rocket is lighter, I'll give it that. and not all parker chain stys break, mine hasn't, so your statement is not true. well, my full parker is heavier than my buddies bottle rocket.

flag seraph (Oct 28, 2009 at 9:38)
Then the Parker frame must weigh about 1000 lbs. A friend of mine had a Bottle Rocket built up with an all-mountain build kit and it weighed 35 lbs. 35 lbs for a 5" travel bike? No thanks.

flag bikerdhill (Oct 28, 2009 at 9:48)
nope, my bike weighs 36.5 pounds, and thats because I have a coil shock, and cromoly dmr bars. the 35 lbs is a good respectable weight for an am/freeride bike.

flag seraph (Oct 28, 2009 at 11:07)
I don't consider 130mm of travel FR. My S-Works Enduro weighed 32 lbs with 150mm of travel in the rear and 160mm in the front. My SX Trail weighed 35 lbs with 170mm of travel front and rear.

so freeride, and downhill are the same to you then, thats what I gather, anyway, doesn't matter, you have your view, I have mine.

sorry bikerdhill the parker went into production in 2008 which happens to be way after transition was founded. lets get your facts straight here bud

flag bikerdhill (Oct 29, 2009 at 9:13)
you newb, the parker was born on the dakar series of bike which was in production in the mid 1990's, get your facts straight.

flag bikerdhill (Oct 29, 2009 at 9:16)
2big4u, get off pinkbike? what just because I have more than just 1 friend who tells me my bike out performs the bottle rocket in the handling department, accept it!!
  • + 1
flag seraph (Oct 29, 2009 at 9:40)
Yeah bikerdhill does have his facts correct, the Parker frame is based off of the Dakar series of frame that surfaced around 1997 or so if I recall.

I Honestly think this is TOO close to a bottlerocket. . . And not as nice... Not a fan of the headtube junctions. . . It's still intriguing though, like a fat girl with a pretty face. Hmm. Dunno. (Best colour I've seen for a while though!)

just an ffyi if you didnt know, the parker is an older frame than the bottle rocket, so in reality the bottle rocket would be a rip off of the jamis...

you guys have bottle rocket on the brian. It is a Transition Double clone, same travel, same suspension design but less burly looking then the Double. It probably weighs more then the Double.

flag hondarider241 (Oct 27, 2009 at 9:31)
Yeah and the double actually looks good

oh yeah and hopefully they corected the cracking issue

flag bikerdhill (Oct 27, 2009 at 17:11)
what cracking issue, I have had my parker for 2 seasons now, and rode it hard, no problems to date, every manufacturer has it's issues.

flag dchill (Oct 27, 2009 at 18:37)
Jamis's qc is horrible. Known fact. The parker has a higher then norm failure rate.
  • + 1
flag bikerdhill (Oct 28, 2009 at 9:42)
can I see the documentation on that known fact, or direct me to where I can get that info please, was unaware of the failures before buying my parker.

Jamis was building the Dakar frame in THIS config long before Transition used the name and logo of a Moorpark, CA skate shop. That said, I own an 11 year old Jamis Dakar and have ridden the Parker, they're not even close to Transition in any way other than it's a bike frame that looks similar. This purple bike, for it's intended use, why is the seat so high, the seat tube so tall?

flag seraph (Oct 28, 2009 at 3:33)
It could be the largest of the three sizes. It looks similar to the way the large Blur 4X looks compared to the medium. For taller riders, it's a godsend.
