WOW ! They`re looking awesome ! Dream bikes ! Only one thing tho, why do you have 4 similar bikes ? I mean, I`d get a V10 or some full blown DH rig, a really good FR bike, a DJ/ST bike and one XC bike. That if I had all the money, sadly I can`t even get a good FR/DH bike for myself Anyway, you know best ! Be happy with your bikes !
The Double was sold shortly after that pic leaving us with the Nomad, Demo, and Stumpy FSR. So I purchased a V-10. The wife rides the Demo for DH and the Stumpy FSR for trails. I ride the V-10 for DH and the Nomad for FR/trails. I couldn't be happier with the bikes we have now.
How's the SLR working out on the Nomad so far? I rode one on my S-Works Allez and it was pretty comfortable for a road bike position, but I couldn't stand it when I swapped it over to my Sunday WC.
It's definitely not the most comfortable seat I have been on, that award would go to the stock Specialized seat that came on my wife's Stumpy FSR which now resides on the Double.
Thanks, I like to keep things tidy. The shop is alright but I much prefered my setup before we moved. There was much more room and I could have all of my tools out. This will do for the next year though.
On her Stumpy they are the stock DT Swiss X430 rims laced to Specialized hubs (Joy Tech hubs really).
True, couches are essential. Or at the very least a large comfy chair. I'm currently set up in half of our office/basement suite so all I get is office/dining chairs. My bikes are admittedly more comfortable to sit on.
Not sure whereabouts this room is in your place, but you could always knock out a wall and build outward a bit if it's near the exterior. Or, if you have a backyard or something with lots of room you could have an entire "shed" to use as a shop. Barred window, lock up the bikes, just as secure as inside the house. You could run an air compressor if you want to and not have to worry about noise from the motor annoying the wife/gf/etc(not entirely sure what your situation is).
CoucheS? I like. We are just renting this place for another year but ultimately I will be building my own shop, either detached or attached to the house.
Of course, plural. You need somewhere for other people to sit while your sprawled out laying down on the couch after a long day of riding/wrenching.
Ah ok. Easiest thing for more room would be hooking one bike from the ceiling(much like your tires/armor) so it's above another bike, taking up half the room that would normally be required.
Yeah but it's a drop ceiling so won't support that weight and it's a lower ceiling so stacking them (like I normally do) is not an option. Luckily the Double has sold to make room for the V10. Maybe I will put my wife's newly acquired Demo (my old one) and Stumpy FSR in the room next to it...lol
Ah ok, quite a situation then haha. Perhaps another work stand to get one of them off the ground at least? Then tuck another bike close to it. Not as efficient as hanging but it works almost as well.
The Demo normally runs parallel to the Stumpy with one bike in the stand and the other to the left rear (closest to camera but not seen in pic) perpendicular to the Demo/Stumpy. It works and not too fussed.
Agree'd. ya'd probably be able to buy a decent frame with the money it cost for that protection hanging up.Respect m8, 4 havin a bombproof bunker, ...The Gringo... P/S How have ya been getting along wiyh ya "crank bros" wheels, are they morphine's and is that "Tranny" a bottle rocket, and if how much does it set you back. cheers.
Thanks. The protection has been well used by myself and my wife, lol. No such a thing as CB Morphine wheels, these are the Iodine versions though and they have held up very nice. No complaints as of yet. It is actually a Transition Double which has been sold and in its place is a V10 that I am building up. It should be done in January.
I thought it was either a bottle rocket or a Double, cos they look so much alike to me,and the wheels just look mint, but i'm sure Crank Bros make something in their range called Morphine, maybe a head set or something.Anyway good luck on the V10 build, and all the best for 2010. ...The Gringo...
Yeah the BR and Double do look similar. Easiest way to tell is by the rear shock. The Double will have a shorter shock with no Resi. CB makes Cobalt, Iodine, Sage, and Opium headsets and wheels, nothing is called Morphine in their entire range. Thanks for the good luck on the V10, she's gonna be nice and best for you in 2010 as well.
If I didn't have to work, then yes I would be living the dream, lol. The Double in this pic has been sold (I miss her though, such a fun bike). Here's a shot with the V-10 but with my wife's Demo/Stumpy FSR removed.
Thanks, the Double has been sold and has been replaced with a V10 that I am currently building up. The Demo now belongs to my wife and is fitted with pink parts, the Stumpy is still hers.
Depends on where your priorites are I guess. If you want a more pedal friendly bike the SXT is better but If you don't need to pedal it much then the Demo is better on the downs. I have ridden my Demo on some trails and put a 36t with 11-34t and I managed to get up most hills.
That would be a bad idea as parts will swap over nicely. Not sure what's on your SXT in regards to a fork but I would definitely go for at least a 180mm on the Demo.
