how did you approach the council about this? Id like to know because the council are building alot of property in my area and im wondering if we could do something similar to this.

you would have to ask Andy, (almostwise) as he got things going through the council...

You'll need to speak to the parks and amenities manger first, also any "play" organisations in the area (eg Barnardo's Play Rangers). go to LAT (Local Action Team) meetings, and also contact the local beat officer/PCSO. If you're still at school, get a teacher on board. It helps if you have an adult to mentor/represent you, but it is by no means essential. Just remember that you are ALWAYS representing the project...so behave, be polite and make sure your buddies do the same. Take time to chat with dog walkers etc. You need to get the local community behind you and prove that there is a demand for such a facility...start a facebook group, it's an easy way to demonstrate it.
Be patient, but not complacent. It took about a year to get this project up and running (and it happened almost over night).
Hopefully there's enough there to get you started, but please feel free to PM me with any questions. I'm more than happy to help you in any way I can.
(I should really write a blog about this...we need more trails in the UK!!). Smile

They're ridable, still being worked on, but people seem to be having fun. Open to all...just respect them - no litter; if digging is taking place offer to help; don't ride in the wet; encourage other riders and just generally be nice. Big Grin

Clicky
When you get onto Rowan Drive, follow it to end (it bares left at the top). The park should be in front of you. Head up the gravel track and the go left across the field. Jumps are in top left corner.
