Are you keeping both rings, other plans aside?

up front? yeah. where I'm moving to, it's too steep to run only a 36 up front. as is, it's a 24/36. I have debated running just the 36, but I can't find an all carbon guide, it's still in the air, as I don't shift out of it here.

A MRP System 3 Carbon is basically all carbon. And there is also the Cargocage but that's a ridic amount of money and I've never seen one stateside

i'll have to look into it, the cheapest interweb price has one at 99. which isn't bad, i'd have to run a slightly smaller ring... but I am still waiting for my xtr crankset to show up, i think the carbon on xtr should look aight, but it'll def. be less secure than a system 3

If you're worried about a 36 being too hard, why not run a 32 or 34 or something? Your shit is going to be so light you won't even need the granny!

should go with a 32, you can get up any hill with an 11-32 tooth cassette, and it's enough speed to get down any hill fast unless you want to race or something, and by the looks of it thats not the plan. BTW wicked build dream bike for sure.
